can any please help me find any info on my grand father during ww1 as im unable to get to the n.a as it involves a 500 mile round trip
we have little info on him apart from the following
john lewis griffiths born 20/10/1896 in holyhead
joined r.f.a. 16/11/15 to 5/2/19 regimental no 259707
on disharge he rejoined
r.h.a 6/2/19 to 6/622 regimental no 1035432
this is the only information we have apart from he may have been with d battery during his time with rha any help would be gratefully appreciated

If he had post war service his records may still be at MOD records and youll have to request them....Theres a link in the Armed Forces Resources part of the Forum.

His Medal Card may be available to download for £3.50 or even view free if you have ancestry subs and you are lucky its been put on!Thats if he served abroad 1914-1918.

we have had papers from the mod but that all is about his service during world ww2 which we knew about amongs them papers was a photo copy of a letter from his commanding officer asking about his entitlement to long service and good conduct pay
where thhey wanted information on his previous service thats where we get the dates from as his discharge papers from his service 1915 to 1919 where lost , we have the discharge paper for 1919 to 1922 but as a dont have a scanner i cant put them on here
but i will type it out as it is

hope that helps we know that during 19 to 22 he was in lucknow india

He may have had only home service between 15 and 19 so no Medals awarded...If he was in India he may be entitled to the Indian General Service Medal but am no expert on this 70% of WW1 records got burned during Blitz some are online A-C surnames on Ancestry others coming on this year.

mmm45 thanks for your input , but where it says one blue chevron i understand that is for over seas service and was issued between 14/18, if im correct that would mean that during his service 15/19 he went abroad somewhere ?

hellol its been a while since i have been on here , i have come across this document but have difficulty with one section entitled DISCHARGE OR BECOMING NON EFFECTIVE there is a column called cause and in it there is some numbers that i dont understand what they mean , any help would be gratefully received .
my aplogises its not the best picture im not very good at cropping
