I need some help in breaking down a brick wall, namely determining when and where my 3rd great grandfather, John Matthews died
He left Mile End Old Town Workhouse, along with his wife Mary Anne and daughter Sussanah between 1891 and 1892. Its not known where John and Mary Anne went to 1892, however, Susannah went to what looks like " Mrs Jordan Mission Hall Malden Ro Kentish Town " ??? (not quite sure as handwriting difficult to read, in 1891.
The trail on John goes cold at this point but I do have a Marriage
certificate for Susannah, August 2 1897, residence at time of marriage 63 Copenhagan Place, father deceased. So this tells me that he died sometime between 1892 and 1897. However, determining when and where he died is now> become a brick wall. I have painstakingly gone through the GRO indexes and looked at all the entries that fit the bill in terms of age and area across volumes 1b and 1c, and I have come up with what has become an expensive nothing in terms of death certs. Have I missed something.
Regards
Steve

Hi
You haven't included any of the following details which are very important in helping to find him
His birthyear
His birthplace
Same info for Mary Anne
He left Mile End Old Town Workhouse, along with his wife Mary Anne and daughter Sussanah between 1891 and 1892
Where did you get that info from? Does it clearly show that all 3 left on the same date?

Carole many apologies
John (aka Thomas) MATTHEWS born Oxford 1826. I have very little on his time in Oxford, other than the fact he came from the Hamel in the St Thomas parishof Oxford.
What I do know is that by 1851 he is living at 23 Leybourne Road Camden employed as Porter at Pickfords. In 1861 he is living at 1/4 Georgina Terrace, Mile End Old Town with wife Elizabeth and four children Thomas, Mary, John, Julia and Sarah Anne There is no trace of him or his family in 1871. (Something I would dearly love to find as with the exception of Thomas I am having real difficulty finding the rest of the family).
However, by 1881 he appears to have remarried and is living at 136 Rodeswell Road, Limehouse with wife Mary Anne and daughter Susanah, rest of the family have dissappeared. By 1891 both John and Mary Anne are living in Mile End Old Town Workhouse. Johnn and Mary Anne went in January and February 1888 respectfully via the infirmary and Sussanah went in the same time as her father but to the school as opposed to the work house
Susaanah left in 1891 to "Mrs Jordan Mission Hall Malden Ro Kentish Town (not quite sure as handwriting difficult to read, in 1891.
John and Mary Anne left separately a month apart a year later
Susannah's marriage certificate dated August 2 1897 tells me that John had died by 1897. Susannah and her mother were living at 63 Copenhagen place
His occupation, from 1861 onwards, was that of a Bargeman /Boatman
