I am trying to find out if the marriage that took place between Alfred Williams and Kate Reynolds in Our Lady's St Anne and St Nicholas was the marriage of my great grandparents. Can anyone give me further details eg occupation of Alf or addresses for either of them for me to try and narrow things down. I know at the time of the marraige Kate lived in Eastham and Alf in Little Sutton on the Wirral.
Thanks

Certificates can be bought here http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ cost £7.
This would give you address at the time of the marriage, and the names of the fathers to each of them.

Can't find a Kate Reynolds.
There is a Catherine Reynolds b Dec quarter 1857 Wirral 8a 339.

Thanks very much to all of you have posted - yes they are certainly mine. The reason I am trying to find out more about Kate and ALfred is that Kate was originally a Roberts and married a man called Reynolds. On the 1818 Census she is listed as a widow but family fokelore tells us that she married a bigamist so there ws no legal marraige, I'm trying to find out a bit more about the first marraige or whether the folkelore is wrong and she was the bigamist!!!
Thanks again everyone.

That's certainly a bit more information.
Looking again it does say 'w' on the 1881.
Both Kate Reynolds 21 w and Mary Roberts 24 are cousins to Ann Roberts 54 who is unmarried.
so 1861 RG9/2636/9/12
finds
Harriet 28 widow blacksmith b Liverpool

Kate Robert to Thomas Reynolds
Sept 1877 Liverpool 8b 152
do you already have this?
-
There is a death for a Thomas Reynolds aged 24
Dec 1880 Birkenhead 8a 271
This may answer the dilemma, if the informant is Kate.
-
Thanks again - I am so impressed with the information you have found!!I'll try and find out a bit more about Thomas Reynolds and see if he fits the bill of a bigamist!!

Hi,
I am hoping to go to the records office next week. I will have a look to see if I can find the marriage certificate.
Red :)
-
To be honest, Thomas Reynolds was married at age 20/21 and died at about age 24.
I don't think he had the chance to be a bigamist ::) and I don't think Kate was either. she was just widowed young.

Thanks very much :)

I am new to roots chat. I know these posts are from 2008 but I have just started researching the Williams family from Little Sutton so any information, advice etc would be great.
Many thanks

Hi - that was a blast from the past having a reply to an old topic!!
Obvioulsy Williams is such a common name that there are several families in Little Sutton - do you have any more information about the family you are looking for and we can see if we are both looking at the same people?
-
Hi
Thanks for your prompt response. I was not sure if anyone would reply seeing as the posts were old so it was lovely to read your response.
I am interested in William Thomas Williams born 1891 who married Lizzie Charters in Edinburgh . His father was William Williams who married Emily Foulkes in Liverpool.
Have you heard of these Williams's?
Best wishes
Jill
