Hello everyone
Does anybody who is familiar with Enniskillan recognise this place, a small mountain with 3 farms at the base.
I believe these farms where owned by my husbands great, great grand father and families. The Mayers family.
It would help trace the parish that they family came from.
I know it might be impossible as Enniskillan probably looks like this all over, (never been), but I thought I might give it a try.
Thanks for your help and time.

Can you give us names and an idea of dates?

Hello
Joseph was born in 1883-87 and was married to a lady called Florence.
Joseph had brothers, one called Henry and cousins called Rufus and Wesley.
Joseph and Florence had children called Melville, Lesley, Joseph, Henry, Florence, and I believe other children.
Family story has it that Joseph added the "s", to Mayer, but I don't know if this is true.
The family came from Scotland, (but forebears from the Ruhr in Germany).
They settled in Enniskillan, Fermanagh.
Joseph and Florence decided to leave Enniskillan to emigrate to America but ended up staying in Liverpool.
This all the info I have, but would be grateful if you could help me trace them back further.
Many thanks in anticipation.
Gina

Have you established whether or not the two marriages you were given earlier on another site are for this family? (Joseph Mayers m.1849 Sarah Beacome & Joseph Mayers m.1881 Elizabeth Little)
There are Mayers buried at Knockninny Methodist Church: John, Maggie, Martha, Minnie, Mollie, Rufus, Sarah, Thomas. May be a link to these people as Rufus would not have been a common name.
Another posting you have mentions the family with the possibility that Leslie was maybe Lizzie and that there was a Joseph Mayers born 1855 connected to this family:

If the family someone found for you in 1891 census is the correct family then the marriage for Joseph Mayers and Elizabeth Little would seem to fit.

Hi. Wesley and Rufus were sons of Thomas and Barbara(Sheerin) Thomas had unmarried sisters Minnie,?? and a brother John whose wife was Martha. All buried in Knockninny. Rufus had a daughter and Wesley had a wife Lillian and 2 sons Ronnie and Leslie. I’m married to Leslie.

The original poster started this topic in 2008 but hasn't been online since 2018. Not sure they will reply to your message even if the see it as they never answered mine back in 2008.

I know the OP hasn't replied, but might help someone else answer the same question some day.
