Hi, im looking for the family of Ann McGRAW, born about 1809-10. she is the mother in law of John Mcmahon born about 1845 in Stewarton, Ayr he married Rose Mcgraw, in Scotland, born about 1845 in Arkeen Co.Down, any information would be very helpful..many thanks.Rob

It's possible that you mean Lisburn. See www.thecore.com/seanruad to find townlands and parishes in Ireland (search for townland beginning with 'lisb').
If Ann McGraw was the mother of Rose McGraw it is possible that Rose was illegitimate or that her mother was married to McGraw (thus any baptismal or family records for Ann would be under another surname).
To search for church records (if they still exist) you need to know the family's religion and where they lived (parish if not actual townland) and in this case the surname you are looking for.

Many thanks,i was going to say when i saw lisbon, isnt that portugal, hee hee, im just away searching documents i have already to see, waht religion they are.. althought i only have my great grans birth certificate, and that dose not mention what religion they are....only other thing i have is a census...

Did John McMahon and Rose McGraw(?) get married in Scotland? If so the marriage certificate might show information like her parents' names, etc. (see Scotland's People website to see what information is on Scottish certificates and how to order them).
Going by the 1871 census information you cannot automatically assume that Rose's maiden name was McGraw.

Hi yeah they were married in Scotland. fathers name John Mcmahon and mothers Rose Mcmahon M.S McGraw. ive completed my tree for my family in scotland..back to 1800-ish just working on the inlaws now ;)
