I am trying to find out if Moses Goodfellow who married in Fovant 1836 married the widow of Noah Goodfellow and if their was any relationship between Moses and Noah.
Hoping someone can help with this.

Hi wisby,
It doesn't initially look like it. If there is any relationship between them then it is at least 2 generations back.
There is a Noah who was baptised in 1803, son of Charles and Maria. No siblings named Moses.
There is a Moses baptised in 1810, parents Francis and Hannah. Is this the one?
I can go backwards on Charles and there are no signs of another Noah or Moses. Francis may have come from a neighbouring parish - his first child may have been baptised in Woodford a few miles away.
Goodfellows abound in this corner of Wiltshire - let me know if you need details of anything else.

Hello Nell,
The Moses you found is the right one, Noah I don't know.
Moses is recorded as having married a Joan Goodfellow but Moses and Jane are named as parents to children born in Auatralia.

Hi wisby,
Noah Goodfellow married Joan Smith 21 May 1827 St Mary, Wilton by Salisbury, Wiltshire. This is from an extracted record on the IGI. They apparently had two children Ann Maria (in 1828) and Noah in 1829, but this about 5 months was after Noah senior died. This information is also on the FamilySearch site but from member submitted records.
So there is a chance that Joan who married Moses was his widow. Unfortunately only a sight of the parish record, a film of it or a transcript are going to answer whether Joan was a widow, but not whose widow. Goodfellow is a very common name in Fovant, but I can't see another wife named Joan.

Hi Nell,
There certainly are a lot of Goodfellows in Fovant, it makes it hard.
I have found a burial
Moses Goodfellow ; Fovant ; 02-May 1896 ; 67 ;
so now I'm wondering if there were two Moses Goodfellows because mine came to Australia and died here in 1877

Hello Wisby,
In case you have not come across my site - I've quite a bit of info on the Goodfellow's from Fovant at:-
www.sheather.co.uk
I have no information at all on the Noah you mention other then his birth and siblings and would appreciate knowing his history from arrival in Australia - would like to be able to add any information you may have on him to the site.
Best regards
Michael (descendent from Grace Goodfellow & Thomas Biffin) ;D

Hi Wisby
I don't know how I haven't found your topic on Rootschat before this but I have information on Goodfellow family and on your line down to grandchildren of William Campbell and Pearl Bacon. I am descended from Moses and daughter Sarah and interested in sharing research.

Hi Wisby,
I am in Aussie as well....also from the Goodfellow family
Moses wife - Jane's 1st husband - Noah Goodfellow was baptised 6/3/1803 in Fovant - buried 10/6/1829 at Fovant aged 26 years, the son of Charles (Born abt 1774) & Maria (born abt 1778) Goodfellow (have not found her maiden name).
Noah & Jane (says SMITH) but her maiden name Clarke - married 21May1827 at St Mary, Wilton, Salisbury (as per IGI search)
Children of Noah & Jane were:
1.Anna Maria (Bapt 17Feb1828 at Fovant)
2.Noah Goodfellow (Bapt: 7Nov1829 at Fovant) (Noah has also been recorded at times as SMITH in Australian indexes)
3. (I also have Thomas Goodfellow (Born 1832 Fovant) - (He is noted as well on shipping record)
Then we have the marriage of Moses & Jane 26Oct1836 at Fovant.
* My connection to Moses is theie child - Ellen Goodfellow (Born 5Feb1838 in Fovant) - she was aged about 3 months old on the ship to Australia....
Back to Noah - I have not been able to connect his father Charles & mum Maria Goodfellow, except that Noah's brother Charles married Deborah Goodfellow (the sister of Moses) she was bapt' 7Aug1814 at Fovant and they married 28Feb1836 at Fovant.
Hope this helps...I have plenty more to share... Merren (from Tweed Heads NSW)
