Do you know which archives (i.e. Wellington, Auckland, Dunedin etc) this is held?

I'm planning a trip to Ak Archives in a couple of weeks - sp may be able to help.

Pixie (and other who are waiting for my archives trip ;))

Sorry, but Fridays (my only weekday off) have been cluttered by such stimulating things like waiting for electrians to fix my hot water cylinder and emergency trips to the vet (how to cats know you have something else planned for the day before they decide to fall out of a tree?)

And now next Friday is Good Friday - but I'll be at the Archives (with bells on - no, wait - that might annoy the archivists ;D) the following Friday.  Just need to convince Bentley (the yawning ginger) that going to the Archives is much more fun than taking him to the vet.

Cheers
Fi

Sorry missed this one on my last trip (thought it was in Wellington - and then saw your later post :D). I'm off again in a couple of weeks - so will add it to my list for then.

Cheers

To cut out the confusion as to which office this record is at, it would help if you put the city name in the title.
You might get somewhere then.
If it's urgent, you always have the option of contacting Archives direct....

In a précis of a letter to the Crown Land Commissioner Auckland dated 20 September 1889, John RYAN stated that:
He was in 10 Company 65th Regiment (under) Captain MACGREGOR and his service number was 2861. He enlisted in Ireland on 20 January 1851 and was discharged at Otahuhu in January 1862.
His discharge papers were destroyed in his whare by a bush fire at Coromandel in 1865.
He was in engagement under Col. GOULD on 17 March 1860 at Taranaki and also in engagement under Col. GOULD in operation at Manutahi and at Koru in the same year.

In an application dated 22 August 1893 John RYAN stated that he fired the first shot on 17 March 1860 at Taranaki under Col. Gould. Twelve months from that date he cut down the Native Flag at Thompson Pa. He was alongside Mr. MCNAUGHTON the day he (MCNAUGHTON) was shot.
