Hi Crimzontide
There is a Patrick Mcdivitt on www.familysearch.org b 10 June 1866, Glendermont, Londonderry, Ireland, Parents John and Ellen.
Do you have any further information regarding birth details, etc that may help narrow down the search for him.
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/CoTyroneIreland/2000-10/0971083345 does this belong to you? It is the same story in more detail that you gave of Patrick.
This is a McDivitt Family Forum http://genforum.genealogy.com/mcdivitt/

If the Patrick McDivitt on Rootsweb posting that lil growler found served in the U.S. Civil War he can't be the one born 1866 in Glendermott. He would have been in U.s, by 1860s.
The first thing to do would be to establish when Patrick McDivitt might have been born from U.S. Census records. If it was before 1864 there will be no birth certificate for him.

Another thread you have looking for same details:

Hi There
I found the Family Search entry first and then when I found the Rootsweb url I modified my original post. In a bit of a hurry and didn't cross reference. Well done for checking :)

I found whom I believe to be Patrick McDivit on 1870 and 1880 US census, and had sent Crimzon a PM last night, after he was was in chatroom.
I can repost here if need be.
