Title: Danby births/baptisms: Christopher CARTER (c1717) & Ann SANDERSON (c1721)
Post by: stephenaedwards on Tuesday 12 February 08 17:48 GMT (UK)
Hi,

Christopher Carter and Ann Sanderson were married in Westerdale in 1742 and had three children that I know of in 1743, 1751 and 1761. This information was from the IGI.

A transcript of the baptism record of one of their grandchildren from 1780 states that Christopher and Ann Carter are of Danby.

The IGI also has the following information for Christopher Carter
Birth: About 1717 Of Danby, , Yorkshire, England
and his wife
Birth: About 1721 Of Danby, , Yorkshire, England

I am not sure about the source or reliability of those two approximate birth dates and have been trying to find any birth/baptism records for either of these two individuals.

Thanks in advance.

I've looked at the transcribed Danby parish records for christenings between 1711 and 1734 on An***try and there are no Carters at all, several Sandersons but all boys, no Anne.

The Christopher Carter you are looking for could be the son of Christopher Carter and Elizabeth Hague christened 2/7/1712 in Kirby Moorside. At their closest, Kirby Moorside Parish and Danby Parish are only a couple of miles apart.
Regards,

Have you considered the three Carter children baptised at Westerdale:-
George 15 Sept 1745 "son of Christopher, Yeoman."
Thomas 2 Feb 1755 "son of Christopher Carter."
Mary 28 Jan 1757 "daughter of Christopher Carter."
They would fit in between Jane 1743, Hannah 1751 & Robert 1761 baptised at Danby.

Burials - Ann, wife of Christopher Carter 25 Aug 1792 at Westerdale.
Christopher Carter, weaver, 2 June 1802 at Westerdale.

There is also a burial at Westerdale for George Carter, yeoman 26 Feb 1742 - could this be Christopher's father, as Christopher's first son is called George.
