!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ADVICE WANTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am Looking for details about Isaac hyatt b.1825 in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.
His Mother was called Mary and also born in Trowbridge, Wiltshire
His father was called James Hyatt b. 20 2 1784 Shepton Mallet, Somerset
I have all of the census reports and know who all of the children are, But I still cant find a Maiden name for Mary or a D.O.B for Isaac.
The family lived in Shepton Mallet and were only in Trowbridge for the birth of Isaac ( I imagine to visit Marys family?)
-
All of the children were born pre 1837 and I have all their details from the Shepton Mallet records.
So I am thinking that I need to see Parish records for Trowbridge POSS???
if anyone could help me with this it would be super!!!!!!!!!
thanks for reading

I've found an Isaac Hyatt - different mother though :-\
Isaac Hyatt
Chr. 22 Aug 1824 Trowbridge Wiltshire
Father James Hyatt
Mother Ann
There are other children born with these parents pre 1824 so it may not be the same family or James' first as you don't give any other details but they are
Alfred 9 June 1822
Jane 6 August 1820
Henry 9 August 1818
hope this helps :-\
-
Possible marriage for James and Ann (if it's his first marriage, by his age it's possible)
James Hyatt
Ann Littman Trowbridge 22 Sept 1816
can't see a marriage of a Mary to James.

Thanks madpants ( greatname)
I dont Know if I am exited or not.
The mother I am trying to find was Mary A ?. In the 1861 census she uses the name Ann.
The dates would also fit with Isaac's baptism. All of the other childen were born in shepton mallet.
I have all the children which have been taken from census data + shepton mallet parish records
James HYATT bd. 20 2 1784, Shepton Mallet, Somerset
dd. 22 6 1862, Shepton Mallet, Somerset
Isaac HYATT bd. 1825, Trowbridge, Wiltshire
dd. 12 12 1904,
Alfred HYATT bd. abt 1822,
Henry HYATT bd. abt 1821, Shepton Mallet
dd. abt 8 1913, Shepton Mallet, Somerset
Sarah HYATT bd. 18 8 1836, Kemp's Bridge, Shepton Mallet, Somerset
Adelaide HYATTbd. 8 9 1831, New Street, Shepton Mallet, Somerset
dd. abt 1888, Shepton Mallet, Somerset
Alban (ert) HYATT bd. 8 1829, Shepton Mallet, Somerset
| dd. abt 11 1829, Shepton Mallet, Somerset
David HYATT bd. 3 3 1827, Shepton Mallet, Somerset
Silas HYATT bd. 16 6 1814, Shepton Mallet, Somerset
Naomi HYATT bd. 4 1 1821, Shepton Mallet, Somerset
The only strange one is Henry whose DOB from the census info gives 1821 and the only Parish record I can find is.
1 March 1814 Birth of Henry Hyatt, son of James & Mary Hyatt. [Shepton Mallet, Som., Parish Register: Baptisms/Burials 1747-1804; Marriages 1747-1754, p.(328), Column 2, Entry (11).]
Do you think the children could have died very very young, then the dates would still tie in ?
I am more confused now than ever
but thanks for your help
I am liking that marriage though do you know what parish it came from? it might help

cheers allibaker
how good is this forum eh?
Still looking at this marriage and it could be either of the two Anne's
It seems their first child Silas was born in 1814 shepton mallet. there is then a gap of 7 years before the next child naomi 1821 of henry 1821 ( 1804 on the parish records)
but the date for Isaac Baptism looks good (he is the direct ancestor)
Thanks for the data MadPants

Just a quick thought
Do you think that Mary A (as on one of the census records) would be Mary Ann & sometimes go by the name of Ann?

i would say either ive known many of my ancestors switch between there christian name and middle name on many documents so could in fact be the same person

Elizabeth 26 Feb 1837 (birthdate 1829)

These are definatly not connected,
It is only Mary, Isaac ( and looking again Alfred) from Trowbridge. everyone else is from Shepton
further investigations are revealing that you are Fantastic
I am certain that you got my Isaac's baptism
and that Ann Littman is my Mary Anne
I have confirmed the children Alfred and Henry ( I had a guesstimate at Henry's DOB). Just Sarah to confirm. child mortality was not great then which would explain why she is missing from my cencus
once again---
You are BRILL

Unfortunately the BiVRI does not cover deaths/burials you need someone with the NBI (national burial index) to have a look for you.

sarah hyatt infant is not buried in shepton mallet the only sarah hyatt buried there in that time fram was 47yrs old
if your infant had been there i would have posted them with the other children

If this helps, Sarah Hyatt is one of my ancestors. She married Thomas Hiscox in 1861 Shepton Mallett.
She appears on the 1841,1851 and 1861 census with James Hyatt as her father and Ann her mother.
