hi, I would be very interested to find Edward and Mary Jane Bartlett on the 1891 census.
At the time of the 1881 census they were running the Eagle Inn, 31 Fisherton Street, Fisherton Anger, Wilshire. They were listed as being aged 59 (Edward) and 45 (Mary Jane). They were originally from Dorset and have a daughter called Ellen Bartlett (age 14 in 1881) and another married daughter called Elizabeth Judd (age 23 in 1881).
I understand they may have moved to the Somerset area.
Also seeking the Judd family on the 1891 census. Charles Judd was born in Wiltshire and an asylum attendant aged 34 on 1881 census. Elizabeth Judd, wife, born Dorset age 23 on 1881 census. Children include: Emily, Edderton, Beatrice, Daisy, Constance and Gertrude. In 1881 they were living at Caterham in Surrey, family later moved to London.
Many thanks.

hi, Pauline. Thanks ever so much for that, so it looks as if Mary Jane must have died by this time and Edward has remarried to Ann.
The information on Charles Judd is very useful as it's confirmed his middle name for me (on all the documents I have on him the middle name is only mentioned once, so I wasn't sure if it was a mistake) and that he was alive at that time (he has died by the time of the 1901 census) and where the family were at that time.
Great, thanks again, lilirose03.

hi, just a quick followup...
I've been on freebmd and the only death I can find for a Mary Jane Bartlett of ANYWHERE near the right age is this entry:
Sept 1894 Chard vol 5c p 220 age 53.
Think we've got the right Edward Bartlett on the 1891 and her death entry isn't on freebmd yet?
Or could it be another Edward Bartlett?
Or could they have seperated and be living apart?
Any ideas?!!!

When you use freebmd always be sure to check the precentage coverage for events. That will give you an idea if an event is likely to be missing (or not)

I can trace your Charles many centuries back if you are interested.
