Hi, I was wondering if anyone can give me any help on this.
My cousin tell's me my Grand Parents got married in the ProCathedral in Dublin in 1903. can anyone arrange to get married there, ? she was from Tipperary and he was from Kildare, or was it because they were too far from her Parish...then why not his in Kildare ?
Thanks for any help.

hi Mags, the pro cathederal also known as st Mary's ,there is information online regards phone numbers etc. both may have lived and worked in dublin at the time?
they would both have had to get letters of freedom from their home parish.
in my parents case they married in mullingar but both were born in dublin
and when I got my mothers baptism cert' from her parish in dublin it had the information about
where the marriage took place and who she married.

Hi Anne. Thanks for that info, I looked on the Wiki and it looks very posh, and
did wonder if people could just pick where to get married, as he came from Kildare and she worked in Kildare but was from Tipperary, I will ring or drop in when I am in Dublin.
Thanks again Anne.

My mother and father got married in the pro-cathedral in July 1933 but we think it was" behind the altar" as my brother was born in March 1934 ! Just thought I'd make you smile this sunny Saturday morning !!!

Hi BarbaraO,
I am sorry your parents went through that, it's not nice to do that to people, I am sorry I would have walked out, I have rang them today and they will send me a cert and the woman said she would send any other info they have, I cannot wait to see what will turn up.

Glad you are getting what you need. I gather you know about the 1911 Dublin census free online from the National Archives site and also Births Deaths and Marriages certs from National Records based in Roscommon . Both very good for getting accurate records on paper !!!
-
Hi BarbaraO,
Yes I had a great time looking at the 1911 census, I found a lot of relatives and friends, but I didn't know about the Births Marriages and Deaths were on line,
I will have a look, thank you so much for letting me know.
I will be in Ireland in March, and I want to go to Roscommon as my G/Father
was born there.

Aaggghhh no not on line but easy to download an application and fax. They reply quickly and the cost is reasonable. Sorry to mislead you.

Hi, BarbaraO.
Thats ok, don't worry.

Fantastic !! I'm now trying the 1911 census for my Dads side. I'm awaiting documents for my Mums tribe !!!
Good luck with future searches.

Hi Anne and BarbaraO,
Yes Anne I think your right a big pat on the back for such service. :) I e-mailed to say thank you.
BarbaraO, I hope you find everyone you need on the 1911, I had a great night when it came on line, I stayed up all night roaming the streets of Dublin like that Molly Malone woman, ;D it was the best night I have had in a long time... sad
or what.

Yes this family Tree stuff is time consuming. When i'm on the computer 2hrs feels like 2 minutes. Visiting the Archives was a similar experience, the day was gone soooo quickly !!
