Can anyone here help me in tracing my grand fathers service records?
He was initially Private C. Sefton 6327
He served with the Loyal North lancashire regiment in the Boer War.

Hi John,
and welcome :) :)
For his Boer War service I'd suggest first you send an email to Kevin Asplin.
As you'll see from this page on his site, he has the full medal rolls for the LNLR.

I can check the casualty lists to see if he was wounded at all.
His full service record will be at Kew.
Do you know if he also perhaps served in WW1?

Hi John
He earned the Queen South Africa medal with the 1st Battalion, with four clasps: CC. T, SA01, SA02 – ie Cape Colony, Transvaal, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902. He was not awarded the Kings South Africa medal, so he was in SA for less that 18 months. He therefore arrived during the guerrilla stage in the war after Pretoria had fallen. Notes on one page says: “To 2nd Battalion”.
If you PM me an email address I will send you the images.
Do you have the medal or his papers? If there was a break of service between the Boer War and any WW1 service there could well be two sets of papers.
