According to an “Exclusive” on ITV Telext today – page 140 “Celebrity News”, one of the stars tracing their ancestors in the next series of “WDYTHA?” will be David Suchet (a.k.a. Hercule Poirot).
He said he is “very nervous because he knows nothing about his family at all.”
Looking forward to the new series.

Thanks for the update Musicman; I've been wondering when announcements would be made. Interesting surname to research.

Be interesting to see if they involve his brother John Suchet, the newsreader.

One of my favourite actors - I will look forward to this.

long link to Teletext (http://www.teletext.co.uk/entertainment/TV/news/d68e4bbe1bafd7312a9c18123d7969bc/Suchet+to+trace+family+roots.aspx)
For an abbreviated version of what is/was on teletext. On teletext it did give the original surname before it was abbreviated to Suchet - a more east European name.
Moderator Comment: URL modified, as it was 'stretching' the screen
See tips here, to avoid this:

Patsy Kensit should be there too, a friend of mine saw the filming at the LMA
-
oh Goody! One of my favourites too ;D ;D
I remember reading somewhere that his Jewish father was from Latvia or Lithuania.
Should be really interesting!!

Do we know when the series will be shown?
I like David Suchet - it will be interesting to see what turns up about his family. I hope they involve his brother in the filming, too.

If we don't get this in Oz I will be severely PO'd. I love David Suchet. I'll never forget him as Blott.

Yeah - Blott! I can still hear that brass band impersonation they played as the soundtrack.
Is that the only comedy he's done? I've seen Mr Suchet as Poirot and various "baddies" in films, but I can't recall him in any comedies, other than "Blott on the Landscape".

Does anyone know when the new series is broadcast?
David Suchet - that sounds fascinating
But I do wish- they would run companion series for ordinary people whose trees are often just as fascinating if not more so.

Can’t find anything on the BBC’s website about the new series – but confess that I do get confused easily!
When I saw the original Teletext about David Suchet, it was two pages long – and it did give more info about David – and where his family originated (now given by oldtimer – thanks). Unfortunately someone forgot to post this info - and when he went back to it – it had been reduced to the first page.
I thought that it said the programme starts in June – but, knowing my track record, I would say that “it might start in June”. ::)
Here’s a BBC link: http://www.rootschat.com/links/02or/ to more info about him.
