sorry, to explain this may take a while.
my mother is looking for birth certificate of john dunn. via a relative we have received print of email of p167 baptist parish holy trinity kingston upon hull 1844 - reading left to right :
No. 1330 May 15 - John son of John & Susan Dunn of Hull, wood turner.
this information tallys up with what she had got in the family bible and from other relatives who are no longer with us now we have internet access.
to further assist you, the family tree sites John's mother as Susan with the following siblings : jane (1847), william (1849) and thomas (1850)
the only hard information she has is a marriage certificate with the following information :
1868 : Parish church horncastle, lincolnshire : No. 278 : 26/7/1868 : John Dunn, 24, widower, grocer, sculcoates, yorkshire, John Dunn (father?) Baker
married :
Jane Bastow-holmes/27/spinster/4 market place (no father)
witness : John Marsten (her brother-in-law) and his son george marsten (or could be marshall and iv written it down wrong.
Its Jane's husband John Dunn i'm trying to trace the birth certificate of and information about the previous wife he appeared to have married.
when mom wrote to records office giving the above information they sent her (for a fee) a copy of the following birthcertificate :
ref: FC794652 registration district of Hull and a subsequent copy of the another certificate with the ref: FC795082 both showing the birth of a John Dunn on 26 feb 1845 at prince george entry high street hull, giving John Dunn (a labourer) as father and an Ann Dunn (formerly) edwards. registering information on 27th march 1845.
she then wrote to the registration office enclosing a copy of the photocopied document to prove the information she gave (as quoted above) was correct. to date (12months since) she has not received a reply. mom cant afford to receive copies of all john dunns born in hull so can anyone out there shed any light as to why we have been sent twice the wrong certificate.
please email me with any help you can give. reimburrsements are available but only for copies of the correct information that we are trying to find.
we are so grateful for any information you may be able to give.

So - forgive me if I just try to summarize this!
You have baptism of a John Dunn May 1844 (parents John and Susan)
Marriage of John Dunn age 24, widower, to Jane in 1868
Birth cert of John Dunn feb 1845 (parents John and Ann)
OK so far??
first observation - the baptism and birth must be different people, otherwise he would have been christened before being born!
Now - am I right that it is the first John (parents J & Susan) that you are interested in?
FreeBMD reallyonly has one option for his birth:
John Edward Dunn
Ap/May/Jun 1845
Hullref 22 425
Now there may be more on the full indexes, but I will wait till I am sure I am on the right track before ploughing through them.
HAve you got John and Susan and little John on 1851 and subsequent censuses? where does he give place of birth as on them? I have assumed Hull, but it could have been elsewhere and he was just brough to the family church in Hull for christening.

Have you got John and Susan and little John on 1851...
Hi
Apart from the wife’s name :-\, this seems to match the family described....

John do Son 6 York Hull

William do Son 2 York Hull

Edit
*The more I look at the original entry, I think the daughters name was Jessie rather than Jane.

This looks very similar to the 1851 family (in which the father was John Dunn who was a Wood Turner)

Here they are again....
1871
Halifax RG10/4399 Folio 14 Pages 21/22
Susanna Wadsworth Head Widow 51 Yorkshire Hull
John do Son U 27 Warehouseman at Spirit Vaults Yorkshire Hull
Jessie do Daur U 24 Worsted Weaver Yorkshire Hull
William do Son U 22 Overlooker of Worsted Spinning Yorkshire Hull
James do Son 20 Overlooker of Worsted Spinning Yorkshire Hull
13 Fitzwilliam Street, Halifax
From the 1851 census entry through to this one, it looks like this John was the son of John the Wood Turner. If that is the case, then it must have been a different John Dunn who married Jane Bastow Holmes in 1868.
It seems to me as if the Baptism document which you have refers to this John Dunn but the Marriage document refers to another one.
Sorry that this is not helping you in the way that you want, but (sticking my neck out ::)) there seems to me to be something inconsistent in your original information.
It might be advisable to start again from the facts which you know to be absolutely definite and work (either backwards or forwards) from there.
The last few sentences should now almost guarantee that someone else will come along and "shoot me down in flames" by finding the evidence to confirm all that you have said ;D I, like you, will be very interested to see it

Jane Bastow-holmes/27/spinster/4 market place (no father)
witness : John Marsten (her brother-in-law) and his son george marsten (or could be marshall and iv written it down wrong.
From the census entries for 1851 and 1861, John Marshall would seem to be her Step Father and George Marshall her half brother. Her Christening seems to be shown in IGI Batch C011913 with mother shown as Sarah Holmes.
Possible Marriage Registration
1841 Horncastle JAS quarter 14 557
Sarah Holmes
John Marshall
This seems to be her mother and step father.
Here is another bit of information concerning a John Dunn (probably the one shown on the census entries above).....
IGI Batch C107482 shows the following Christenings at Holy Trinity, Kingston upon Hull, which seem to match the census entries (and suggest that the 1851 entry showing the mother as Sarah was an error)....
15/05/1844 John Dunn
28/03/1847 Jessie Dunn
Parents John and Susan Dunn

John Dunn from Halifax born in Hull appears I believe on the 1911 Census in Halifax. I am trying to trace a relative James Dunn and found him on this census as a result as trying to track down relatives of Leonard Dunn born in 1930 who went on to marry a Doreen Piercy. Don't know where Leonard was born believe either Middlesborough or Wigan. Not sure if it's same family but hope it helps in your search.
