Hi,
you havent indicated any rough dates of birth; there are a couple of Alexander Sproats on the 1901 census,
eg Alexr Sproat 35 Warehouseman at 1115 Pollockshaws Rd Eastwood b Old Luce Wigtonshire and his family.

Did any of your  Sproat family go to BC Canada?
There is a 'Sproat Lake' on Vancouver Island named after a Gilbert Malcolm Sproat from Galloway, Scotland. He arrived there in 1860.

Hi,
there are a few Sproats on various censuses from Wigtonshire living in Glasgow. If you have more info about dates of birth and when they came to Glasgow and any spouse info then it would be easier to help you.

In 1871 at the same address:
Mary 73 head, John 44 son, tailor, Lane 42 daughter, Mary Sproat 5 months granddaughter.

Might be useful to check the birth cert of 5 month old mary on Scotland's people.

Hi,
James Sproat = Janet Harris both died before 1870. Daughter Jane/t died 14/8/1870 age 75 = George Rennie or Rainey d 1877 Kirkmaiden. Their son John = Margaret McTear 1860 Kirkmaiden.

Do you have them in your tree.
