Post by: John Richter on Wednesday 30 January 08 16:50 GMT (UK)

Foxrock is in Co. Dublin - a rather upmarket suburb on the south side of the city, but was probably quite rural at the time your ancestor was born.  I have never heard of Kinstore, but would hazard a guess that it is actually Kingstown, which was the old name for Dun Laoire (or Dunlaoghaire) which is also on the south side of Co. Dublin, further out than Foxrock.   The car ferry to Holyhead in Wales sails from Dun Laoire harbour.

Thank you for your help. Going to see if I can get a researcher to check the birth records.

Not sure what years you are looking for but LDS site has many (but not all) Irish births 1864-c1880 online (free at www.familysearch.org)
If you know the names of parents do a parent search on 2nd search page to find siblings, etc.

Thanks...tried it before. Mine was born in 1849...found the record on a site but they want £10 to look at it...do not mind that if its the right one but would like to know its right first.
Francis Anderson (father John Anderson) born 1849.

Since civil registration of births only started in 1864 it sounds as though that 1849 record is from church baptismal register not birth certificate.

I agree Frazer.

I'm sure it's Kingstown.

I have found the Baptism via an online database but it cost me 30 Euros. The next record I want is on there too but there are several records and it will cost 10 euros each just to look at each  one....can anyone recommend a decent researcher in County Dublin who does not charge the earth ?
