Hoping someone can help solve a mystery for me. ;)
I am trying to find the birth of an Elizabeth Ann Overend.
Born circa 1869/70.
Parents: Robert Overend/Overand and Sarah Cuttriss/Cuttris/Cuttress
Robert Overend and Sarah Cuttris were married in Hay, NSW , 8th Jan 1869.
Their second child, John Thomas Overend was born on the 9th March 1872 at Balranald, NSW
3rd child Edward ernest Overend 1875, at Echuca, Vic
The rest were all born at Geelong Victoria.
I have searched under the name Overend and Cuttris (and the variations) but have had no luck, perhaps can't see for looking ::)
After Roberts wife, Sarah, died, Robert married her sister Elizabeth Cuttris.
Would appreciate any help in finding the birth of Elizabeth Ann Overend please :)
Also I have had trouble finding shipping for Robert Overend to Australia, he was born in 1842, Sutton, Yorkshire.

I have checked out South Australia for you....as well as having a look at NSW and Victoria......but unfortunately she seems to be either very well hidden, or just not registered. :'( :'(

One of those mysteries me thinks.
The other possibility I considered was that if she was illegitimate, she may have been registered by Sarah Cuttriss' parents -as their child.
The parents were John Cuttris and Mary Ann Stubbins. but the only thing I found with this thought in mind was the birth of a Sarah J Cuttress, father John, mother - Mary, in 1868.
My guess is that she was not registered.
Waiting for a copy of her marriage certificate to see if it offers anything new.

I couldn't see the birth either - checked the avri which covers NSW Vic WA and Tas
Either of these could be the immigration

The age of 23 looks about correct

Do you have Robert in 1851/61 - he is still with the family in 1861 - it seems his mother has died & the family are living with grandmother.

Yes, thankyou, I have all the census for this family line.
Both parents died young, their mother died between 1851 and 1861, their father died between 1861 and 1871, in the 1871 the remaining children are living with their uncle Thomas Overend.
Robert of course is not there.
So he would have immigrated between 1861 and 1869 (his marriage).
Sorry, I should have mentioned possible dates for shipping.
Thankyou for your help also in looking at the birth for Elizabeth, Looks like it will always remain a mystery ;D

Elizabeth Ann Overend is my Great Grand Aunt. :-)
I have that she was born in Geelong in 1870...but no def data to prove it.
I wonder do you go on ancestry.com... if so let me know and we can have a look at each others family trees.

I never did find Elizabeths birth. I think they just never got around to registering her. :-\
I have a lot of information and a few contacts for your line.
I also have a photo of Robert Overend born 1842, with his second wife.

I have come to this page by default - I realise that you last post on this topic about 6 years ago, but I have something that may be of interest to you!...
I have an Indenture, dated 1874 between one Robert Overend of Cononley in the parish of Kildwick, and the Most Noble William Duke of Devonshire.
It was going to be on Ebay along with a large group of other documents I have, however I would really like for you to have it, as it seems your are a relative and I always like to see these kind of things going to their proper place.
I looked at how I could message you "privately", however I couldn't seem to be able to do this.
I'l look out for any replies to this from you!
