I have three relatives from first world war Listed below can anyone help with what records are likely to be available at Kew and what they are likely to contain. I have their medal records. Would like to find out any useful genealogical information to help trace relatives and also any information on their service because I find it very intersting.
Thanks for your help.

You can buy the "War Diary" of certainly the RDF online from the National Archives site. I got the sections that interested be over Sept 16 to Feb 17
You buy it by the page of interest to you, and it gives a detailed record of the regiments deeds, casualties, where they were and what they did. It covers both time in the line and time out of the line
I did also get the Service Record of my grandfather (that was not online - I paid a researcher to get it for me), but that is hit and miss as many are missing

Is the war diary likely to have any information on my grandfather who survived ww1.
I have ordered the extracts from the other regiments as I expect it will at least mention they were killed?

Unit War Diaries are hit and miss some regiments recorded casualties by names but most were numbers...If they were Officers theres a better chance of finding a mention or if it was a one off incident away from the battlefield otherwise they would be innundated with lists.
Unit War Diaries were usually kept by a young officer in the field.
Good luck.

I was able to buy the RDF War Diaries online. You can just buy a page and see whether you think its worth paying for more.
Any mention of my grandfather was a bonus, what I wanted, and what I got, was background as to where the regiment was and what they were doing. Very little time was spent fighting.
