From the 1841 and 1851 censuses, it appears that Sarah KIMBERLEY was unmarried and living with her three daughters. From her stated ages I estimate that she must have been born in Bromsgrove about 1802. On searching the IGI I find that there were four Sarah KIMBERLEYs born in Bromsgrove between 1775 and 1815, i.e. in one in 1778, one in 1794 and two in1802. The last two were christened on the same day in the same church, but have different parents. I have confirmed these by looking at the parish register copies held at Worcester History Centre.
My question is, do I have any hope of identifying which of these Sarahs is my wife's ancestor? It seems that there will be no record of a marriage which might have provided her father's name. Does anyone have any suggestions please.

Have you tried the wills of the two fathers?
It could state I leave to my daughter Sarah, wife of..........
or even they place where she is living.
Wills I have state addresses, relationships, married names
etc.
I dont know how popular the surname is in the area you
are looking but you could find the families are connected
anyway.

will there not be a PR of the marriage?

Also does Sarah Kimberley have any brother or sisters,
does the other Sarah Kimberley have siblings, this could
also lead you to which father is the right one, by checking
the birth records of her siblings.

if some of her siblings are with her in the census this would help too!

Could there be poss. links with naming patterns from parents to sarahs' children which may give link. Does it state unmarried or widowed in 1851? As Toni states poss. marriage in PR's?

Thanks for the responses so far. You've provided several avenues to chase up.
There appears to be no marriage recorded in the IGI of a Sarah KIMBERLEY in Worcestershire between 1815 and 1835. Though I appreciate this doesn't prove anything. My Sarah was definitely listed as UNmarried in both 1841 and 1851. I haven't managed to check out possible siblings yet. I do know her daughter Catherine and her granddaughter Jane also went on to be unmarrried mothers. A family tradition?
It's possible that there was a will, but unlikely as the the family appear to have been dirt poor Nailers. I haven't found any likely siblings in the censuses, either living with or nearby. I think, as I haven't found the second Sarah in the censuses, she may have died in infancy or she might have married. I suppose either of these might help to find the other father's name . I think I'll have to get back to the PRs.
