Hi everyone,
Could anyone tell me please, what a "locked topic" is?
Hope you dont think im daft for asking!
Regards, Viv

Hello Viv
Not a daft question!
When topics are "locked" the ability to post a response and thus turn the topic into a thread is disabled.
Lookup offers are locked for example, because a very long thread would make it difficult for the lookup requester to find the lookup response. It is much easier if everyone can see what is on offer, and then request a new lookup each time.

Hi Rick ,
Thanks for your reply.
The reason I asked about a locked topic was because I requested a look-up for 1861 census, Marylebone on the London board. I didnt understand what "locked" meant , I thought it may be preventing someone from sending me a reply. I am new to this site and also new to computing but am "getting there" with the help of kind folk like you .
Hope you didnt mind me asking
Regards, Viv
