Hi .. I hope everybody had a great christmas.. Happy new year to You all..
I have a Lot Millard... born 1858 Axbridge , somerset.. he is on the 1881 wales census as Sol Millard..
says born weston super mare.. devon..
He married Mary Ann Green .. in 1884.. in ystradyfodwg parish church.. at the time they were both resident in Heol-fach..
Mary Ann remarried Henry Stewart in 1897.. in pontypridd registry office..
there atre 2 queries i am hoping someone might be able to help with please.....
1.) marys father was Robert Green.. it shows mary green on her remarriage certificate as being widowed.. but she married in her maiden name .. do you know if that would have been allowed... everything else ties in.. except for this..
2). there seems to be no death record for Lot Millard.. between the two dates of marriage.. Lot was a labourer, i do not know what type of labourer.. as they were resident in heol-fach i feel he probely died in that area..
does any one have a cd for that area for 1894 to 1897 please.. if so please can you help solve this mystery...His Fathers name was William Millard..
thankyou very much.. takecare.. jui..

This is the marriage
MILLARD LOT age 24, Bach, father WILLIAM (DEC) married GREENING MARY ANNE age 22, Spin, father ROBERT on 7/4/1884 by Banns YSTRADYFODWG
There is also a marriage for Caroline Greening father Robert....in 1885
Cannot find a death in either of the local cems near to the marriage. Only Lot Millard death freebmd in Axbridge 1916 age 39, so don't think it is him.
Did they have any children, and have you found them in 1891? Also what town is 'Heol Fach', in ? there are a few

Just found this so it looks like Ystrad in Ystradyfodwg, this would make sense as the parish church is within that area, also if I remember rightly, as it was a while ago, her parents Robert and family were in Ystrad on census.
The English translation of the Welsh word Ystrad can be taken as meaning Vale, a flat space or valley bed. It is thought that Ystrad itself takes its name from the old parish name of Ystradyfodwg, or Vale of Tyfodwg, Tyfodwg being thought to have been a disciple of St.Illtud. Historically, the area known as Ystrad has had a number of different names. Early records call the area Ynys Fach, which can be translated as, ‘a low lying meadowland near a river', and subsequently early Ordnance Survey maps call the area Heol Fach
Do you have Dianas' birth cert, what was address? If it was Trealaw and Lot died, he would be buried there?

Hello Cas.. again thankyou for your reply.. i do have Dianas birth cert .. it just says trealaw.. also i just noticed it says fathers ooccupation mason.. dont know what that was .. jui

A mason is someone who works with stone, such as Bricklayer.
In the 1891 the son Henry is 3...so it looks like Lot vanished between 1885-1887. Somethings we will never know, sorry could not help more

Mary remarried.. Henry in 1887.. looks like Lot could have mysteriously dissapeared .. perhaphs down a mine shaft.. or Mary was a biggamist.. oh well .. thankyou again.. jui..xx

Hi Jui,
Heol Fach is a St in Dinas. I cuold not find him either. You could try asking Treorchy Library to look for you as they have the internment records for trealaw cemetery (dont expect an immediate response as they are busy) also he could have been buried at Glyn Taff. Dinas is where the first coal shaft was mined inn the rhondda. Nearby there used to be a chapel and a burial ground. here's the bad news. Where the chapel and burial ground was is now a play ground and nobody knows who is buried there or where the records are. I have looked. Maybe you ask glamorgan fhs for some clues.
hope that helps a bit

Hi Gareth I have the records index for Trealaw Cem and also Cymmer, which you mention, they were recorded before the new road was built, published in the local rag.
Lot is not in Trealaw unless down as unknown man...will search out the ones for Cymmer, but the burials are normally very early. Is Heol Fach still in Dinas? this was mid 1880's, and I am well familiar with the area, many of my lot settled in Dinas and Trealaw.
