I have a feeling it is quite contagious because I think
I might have caught it.

How long does it last?

No known cure - I've only been suffering about 6 weeks and have a class one case.

I think that the only thing to do is to wait as long as you possibly can manage before going on line each morning - at least until after breakfast - and if you try very hard you can push it forward a little bit every day - after dishes - after bed making - not until coffe time -

However, it does take an enormous effort, and here I am today - washing machine on, oven in pieces in the sink, dinner out of the freezer - but I'm still in my dressing gown because - I'm 100% addicted!

Hi,

I've had it for about 12 months but didn't like to admit it ::).  Still not found a cure but you never know!  OH is not amused!

Hi!

There is no known cure! On the few occasions that Rootschat has been offline, we addicts have been sitting staring at "page cannot be displayed" for hours on end, waiting for it to come back on so we can get a fix! Then there has been an enormous sigh of relief as everyone exchanges stories of how they filled in their time, like er, housework  ;D

I've been doing some statistics...
Of all the people I know 47.3% are into family history.
Of those, 89.7% are addicted.
Of all the people I know 3 are into housework.
Of those, .02% are addicted.
Of all the people I know 2 are into statistics.
Of those, .1% are addicted.
Interesting.

If my mother was still living, and you knew her, you could add her to the .02% addicted to housework  :) - her recommended solution to every known problem was to suggest scrubbing the kitchen floor - One could definintely eat off her floors  ;D

She was into family history too - I inherited that addiction  ;D

Amused by the housework comments - my mum has been known to say "I wasn't put here to do housework - it's not creative" ;D ;D and "A quick flick is better than no flick" ;D ;D
She was interested in family history but not so much these days - she feels she is getting closer to becoming a statistic.  She doesn't appreciate me telling her about any family skeletons on her side. ;)

Cheers
Cando

Can't do that. My addiction is so bad the computer goes on and I link to Rootschat as soon as I get up....usually just after 6.00a.m. each morning. And unless I go out somewhere, it stays on until I finally go to bed each night.  :o  ::)   ;D

It's bad.......  :-\

But I like it.....   :D  :D

Mornin' all

I'm feeling smug to-day because you were all on before me  ;D  - but as you can see,  I don't follow my own advice   ;D   ;D

About the 11 % of Leonie's people who managed to get into FH and not become addicted -  HOW?

Mary

No - I'm not off to clean the bathroom or do the ironing! I'm just going to read another thread!

Of the 11 % of FH'ers who are not addicted;
2% are addicted to family crises.
3% are addicted to the next generation, and the next.
1% had their house half burnt down in bushfires.
5% are liars.
 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Leonie -

Maybe the 5% aren't really liars but are actually in denial?  Perhaps you should direct them here so they can declare?

I introduced my daughter to RC a few months ago.

Recently she told me of her problems with this site -- whenever she's on she finds so many interesting pieces to read that she doesn't get back to her original search of the day.

So she stayed away for a while.  I can't do that.  Such discipline -- probably my fault!!      :) :)

I put the computer on as soon as I get up in the morning and log on, I cant walk by without having a quick look to see what I am missing.    As for going to bed at night -  I chat into the early hours.     If I cant find my rellies I try to find someone elses.

Next week I am going away for two weeks how will I cope will I get withdrawal symptoms?   Yes I will so does anyone know of an internet cafe in Tenerife?

I am now going to do my ironing I think, if I can manage to come of here.

Addicted who is addicted?

I was offline for six weeks in December & early January - Blimey it was pure torture. The house got cleaned, even managed to cook Christmas dinner LOL but, thankfully, internet all sorted again and normality can resume.

Rootschatitis - addiction - what's that then????????  ;D  ;D

I've got a cure - jury service.  It was so tiring, I barely came near the computer at all, just a quick peep on Rootschat now and again.

Oh dear - not a cure at all, jury service finished and here I am back as usual and past midnight.
