Is there anyone visiting Bristol Record Office in the near future who would be prepared to look up an 1845 marriage in Westbury on Trym, please.
From the IGI I have Alfred Parnell marrying Sarah Lock on 20 Apr 1845.
I am particularly interested in the groom's father. Was he James, a carpenter?
I believe that 'my Alfred' married at Littleton-on-Severn in 1848 - as a bachelor - but I would like to check whether his bachelor label was correct.

Many thanks Nashua.
This certainly proves that the Littleton on Severn Alfred is 'mine' - and also that 'my' Alfred did not marry twice.
And I can eliminate the possibility of the Westbury on Trym marriage as being of significance in relation to my Thornbury Parnells.
Thanks again for doing the look up. Much appreciated.

It looks to me as if you are talking of one of 'mine'. An Alfred Purnell born 31 December 1824 baptised at Dursley Methodist Chapel 16 February 1825.

Try freebmd looking for Alfred Purnell marrying Sarah Lock in the June qtr of 1845. You might not have looked for both.
Buying the m-cert is called for ;)

Chas - what would the marriage cert offer that Nashua hasn't already found?
Ruth, I had a look for a death of Sarah before 1848, none found. What are the chances of two Alfred PARNELLs both being of marriageable age and both being carpenters though?
I can't see a suitable death for an Alfred between 1845 and 1848 and yet there doesn't seem to be a carpenter married to a Mary in 1851?
I wouldn't place much faith in the "bachelor" status - my 2x gt grandfather said that & he was actually a widower ...
Kind regards, Arranroots ;)
