I wonder if these are the birth regs for some of their children. All registered at Kingston, Middlesex which covers Hampton.
March Q 1838 - Alfred Laidler - Vol 4 Page 200
Dec Q 1841 - Mary Ann Laidler - Vol 4 Page 173
March Q 1844 - Emily Laidler - Vol 4 Page 19[35]
The mothers maiden name will be on the birth cert.
Hope this helps. :)
Sheila
PS - The nearest I can find to Sillon is Silton, which is in North Yorkshire.

yes they are the children and I bet it is Silton and North Yorkshire is nearest Durham where he is from so Ill have a go at trying to find a Mary marrying a john Laidler there
Thanks alot

Hi Nicola
I think it would be safer to get one of the birth certs. It's the only way to be sure you have the correct Mary when looking for marriages. If you find a marriage, without knowing her maiden name you cannot be sure you have the correct one.

Yes I will . Why didn't I think of that !!!
Thanks alot

I don't know the area so this may not be relevant but may be worth keeping on file for when you get a maiden name for Mary.
Parish - Sunderland Holy Trinity, 25 April 1825, John Laidler to Mary Spours.
Good luck with your search.

Hello Nicola,
It may be that the maiden name of Mary as has been suggested is Pettler (Petler). The Silton you are looking for is in the parish of Leake (Nether Silton or Over Silton) - east of Northallerton. Marriage to John Laidler 16th Oct 1824, christened at Leake - Jan 1802 to John & Elizabeth Pettler (Petler) (married 1784)- Note the variations of the surname have been common both being used by an individual person.
cheers

Thanks very much that brillo. I have ordered Frederick Laidlers (her son) birth certificate to find out her maiden name. but it looks like you have cracked it. Does it say in the marriage certificate who the parents of John Laidler are Ive got two possibles.
1 John born 9/9/1802 Father James Laidler mother Ann Vasey
2 John James Laidler born 18/11/1804 Father Laidler mother Margery Harbottle.
Many thanks for any help
