Hello Amanda , noticed your request for help in tracing descendants of GEALE , as its some years i suppose from the planned reunion so its not much help in suggesting the electoral office ?
However this is off the track a bit , im searching for any info on my wifes ggrandfather Robert WALKER born dec 2nd 1830 greenock renfrewshire , found a Robert WALKER as being apprenticed to Edward GEALE in 1845 on ship Isabella , later transfered to ship called Superior Do you have any knowledge of these ships movements ? Also on the family trees on Ancestry that include Edward no one seems to have a death year or place ?
Kind regards
Brian johnson

Hi Brian,
We know that Edward and his wife Janet (nee Warnock) settled in Singapore. Their son was John Edward Geale, whose wedding anniversary we celebrated 7 years ago. Our last records of Edward show him as the Captain of the Whampoa. Janet is buried in Singapore, not sure about Edward's death at this point in time.
Thank you for your suggestion, however since the reunion was 7 years ago we are not actively searching for relatives. We did however have a fantastic response to all our notices posted in the various places and had a massive turn out. We had relatives from all branches. It was an extremely successful weekend.
Dawn,
I will reply to your message now.
Thanks,
Amanda

Brian,
Another thought, Edward, his brother Caleb and their father John all worked for the East India Company. Not sure if that helps... Edward's wife was also from Greenock, Renfrewshire.

My pop was Arthur Harold Geale (died in 98) and my nan was Veronica Geale (died in 2010 on her birthday funnily enough)
I am Jessica, my maiden name is Geale. My father is John geale :)
-
Hi Jess,
I knew both your Nan & Pop, you and I are 2nd cousins. I was at your Pop's 80th birthday party in I think 1993. Aunty Vonnie was a lovely lady. My grandma was your pop's sister Mary.
:)
-
I remember going to visit Aunty Mary when I was a kid!
That makes you and my dad first cousins, obviously.. Haha
Such a small world, I can't believe I came across this thread. I was actually thinking about a story pop used to tell me about how he helped build the harbour bridge so I was doing some googling and came across this!
Do you remember my mum too? Her names Maria. If you want you can add me on Facebook.. I think you can search for me via email: (*)

Hey Jess,
Yeah, that's right, my Dad and your Dad are first cousins. I remember your Dad from Uncle Arthur's 80th but not so much other than that, I don't really remember your Mum but the name Maria is familiar. Your Nan was lovely, she bought my kids some fairy tale books a year or two before she died. Do you remember Aunty Glad?

Hi Amanda,
I am writing a family history book that will be listing the Geales as a Bolin family descendant marries into the Geale family.
I was interested in your comment of Edward Geale being a captain of the Whampoa... My great grandfather, Wilfred Stephens travelled on this ship with his regiment to Fiji in 1875 to survey the new capital of Fiji.... His granddaughter married a Bolin descendant, being my grandparents...
A Ruse/Kiss family member of the early 1850s was also a witness to the marriage of George Bolin & Mary Ann Thomas in Sydney.. What a lot of coincidences we have here...
Would love to hear from you
