Hi Val
Have you tried Huddersfield Family History Society, they have lots of Parish Records for the Kirklees area transcribed.
If you don't have any luck PM and I will try and find next time I go to Library.

Hi Annie,
I had to look it up,I had no idea otherwise ;D
what do you think of these two for Davids parents??
John Crawshaw to Sarah Hartley ,2 Jan 1810 in Elland.....
-
Hi Hepburn & Annie
Thankyou both for taking the time to help.
I had seen the David Crowshaw 1811 on the IGI. I will take another look as Heckmondwike is close to Dewsbury :D
Regards Val
-
Hi
I have taken another look at the IGI. I do not think John & Sarah married 1810 can be Davids parents as I have found-
Susannah b 1803 Heckmondwike
Mary b 1808 " " parent's John & Sarah
David has children with these names so maybe! ::)

Hi
There is an IGI entry for David Crowsha b 1808 in Brighouse..Parents John and Hannah Crowshaw.
John married Hannah Kay in Elland in 1798 and is listed as married to John Crawshaw
I can tell you that Dewsbury,Brighouse, and Elland all within a stones through of each other.
Also you have to remember that the ages on the 1841 cencus are sometimes rounded -/+5yrs

Hi Val
Just let me know if you want a lookup at St James Parish Church Heckmondwike and I will have a search at the library for you.
Ann :)
-
Hi Sisterjane
Thankyou for that, as part of the problem is not knowing the area, I will take a look at the David Crowsha entry on the IGI
Regards Val
-
Hi Ann
If it would not be to much trouble that would be great. I will carry on and have a look on the IGI at Sisterjanes suggestion.
Val :)

What do you think to this.
John Crawshay & Sarah Cooper married 1795 Dewsbury
so far found nine children born to a John & Sarah Crawshaw all baptized at Heckmondwicke between 1798-1818.
Also on the 1841 census there is a John & Sarah living at
80 commonside mirefield Dewsbury with Elisha living at 79 commonside with David living at 91 Knowles Lump Mirefield Dewsbury, family staying together!
Val :)

Hi Val
They look very promising, I don't understand the Mirfield, Dewsbury addresses, I live at Mirfield so I will look in my A - Z and see if there is a commonside in Mirfield , I know ther is one at Roberttown and that's only a jump into Mirfield, and I also know there is one on the Dewsbury/Heckmondwike border.
So I will have a little search for you.

Hi Ann,
Just trying to save you a trip for nothing, as the earliest date for St. James, Heckmondwike records, is 1831 (Fiche ref: WDP88).
The earliest date for St. Saviour, Heckmondwike records, is 1890 (Fiche ref: WDP88).
I had a quick look for the family in my St. Peters, Birstall baptisms transcriptions ....... sorry, they are not there. :'(
-
Aaagh ...... I've just had a look on the IGI:
David's Christening: 17 NOV 1811 Old Chapel Independent, Heckmondwike
These are not Church of England's records ...... you need to access the records for this Chapel ....... Wakefield Archives will have them.
-
Hi Scribbles
Thank you for letting me know, I was thinking it was Cleckheaton library that had them missing you have saved me a wasted journey, I did notice when I went they had some new records for some of the chapels but did not have chance to have a good look.

Hi Val
Been to Huddersfield library today and I had no luck for you :( Huddersfield library records for the Old Independent Heckmondwike did not start till 1855, I looked myself first and could not find them so asked the lady behind the desk and she looked in the fiche drawer and there book where they have all the records entered that they hold and every thing said 1855.
Not sure if they will have then at Wakefield Archives but I don't go there so sorry can't help, you could email the Wakefield Archives to see if they hold them.
Sorry I could not help you more.

Hello Ann
Thankyou very much for trying, sometimes I think the records are as hard to track down as the relatives. Maybe I will be able to come to Yorkshire in the summer for a bit of sight seeing and a bit of rellie hunting ;)
Thankyou again Val

Hi Val
When I am going through the records for my own stuff I will keep a look out for your David Crawshaw.
