Title: kilmarnock and loudoun pre 1855 MIs
Post by: poppysmum on Thursday 10 January 08 13:44 GMT (UK)
I now have a copy of this book and can look up names for anyone.  The book is quite big so it might take me a while.  The parishes are Dunlop,
Stewarton
Fenwick
Kilmaurs
High Church Kirkyard, Kilmarnock
Laigh churchyard, Kilmarnock
Kilmarnock

St Peter's churchyard, Kilmarnock
Riccarton
Galston
Loudoun
Newmilns
Darvel

Hopefully I will be able to see something for someone else, it might make up for the fact that despite having generations of ancesters i this area, none of them are mentioned ::)

Hi Poppysmum

I wonder if you could do a lookup for me in Kilmarnock.  I am interested in a James Dickie who I think would have been born abt 1781.  He was a Shoemaker.

I am looking for a Barbara Baillie (who was married to Thomas Baillie).  Her maiden name was Barbara Oliphant (or Oliver).  Her son (John Baillie) died in 1855, buried at Riccarton I think and she appeared in the 1851 census (but in Pollock).  They moved to Ayrshire sometime after that census and 1855 when John died, but to date I cannot find any death record for Barbara.  Thomas remarried around 1857 so she must have died somewhere in between 1851 and the date of the second marriage.

Wow - what a kind offer.

I'd be most interested to hear of any Barnes in Kilmarnock (especially David Barnes and his wife Hannah nee Spear, dates unknown but they had a son in 1820).

Also any Wylie/Wyllie entries in Kilmarnock (especially William or James with a wife Mary nee Currie - dates unknown but known children born 1819 and 1832 respectively).

Many thanks in advance

Anna :)

Hi Quarrion,

I have almost 500 descendants of James Hood Dunlop, from his 2 marriages - far too many to list here. First wife Susannah McKnight married 1853 Tarbolton, Ayr, second marriage was to Edith Ward in 1886 at Baddaginnie, Victoria, Australia.
My research has not gone beyond his birth on 10 Jan 1834 with his parents names of John Dunlop and Agnes Hood. I have been unable to establish their marriage if any, or of possible siblings.

I would be happy to share info.
