Hello,
I'm trying to gee up some interest for your post :)
I take it that the William Todd (no J) and Isabella Meikle who married on 13 Nov 1821 - on the IGI as an 'extracted' record , had the following children - also from the IGI. Looks as though a couple of errors on transcription. However....
JANET TODD Christening: 22 SEP 1822 Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland
ROBERT TODD Christening: 04 FEB 1827 Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland
WILLIAM GEORGE FORRESTER TODD - International Genealogical Index
Christening: 11 DEC 1828 Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland
WILLIAM GEORGE FORRESTER TODD
Christening: 14 DEC 1828 Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland
DAVID TOD
Christening: 31 OCT 1830 Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland
JOHN TODD
Christening: 04 APR 1833 Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland
JOHN TODD
Christening: 04 APR 1834 Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland
If the parents died after 1855 in Scotland, their parents names will be on their death entries which can be found on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk - a pay per view site with quite a bit of free stuff.
Off to check the 1841 census to see if they were alive then :I)

This would appear to be them on the 1841 census - no sign of Isabella on it www.freecen.org.uk). Possibly dead?. I don't have access to the 1851 census - maybe someone else has - or you are aware of death dates of either William or Isabella. If so, the advice in the above post applies.
As you may be aware jesssie, jess and janet were interchangeable names in Scotland.

The Bathgate Todds include George Todd and Mary Bowie whose children were born in Bathgate in the 1820s, including Henry Todd 1834/35 whose son was George Eyre Todd 1862-1937, the scholar of Scottish poets and poetry.
