Hi Compo and Kenjo! I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina and I think we are descended from the same MacDonald family. I think your John McDonald (married Margaret Blair 25/2/1821 Fordyce) was a son of Roderick McDonald and Elspeth, nee McDonald. John died in 1876 in Portsoy and had brothers Alexander, Archibald, James & David and a sister Jean. I am descended from James.
The father of Roderick McDonald is almost certainly James MacDonald of Knockcowe, Baillie on Skye, who was in turn a son of Alexander MacDonald, 6th of Kingsburgh.
If this info is correct there is a lot of MacDonald information available for previous generations, back to the 13th or 14th century.

Are you looking for a bit of help? If so, do you know when and where any of these Sims were born? And the names of their wives/mothers?
