Title: 1871C look up
Post by: nigelrixson on Thursday 03 January 08 21:38 GMT (UK)
Hi all,
I have a copy of the marriage certificate between Edward Stenson and Amy Wheatley, 29 Jul 1866 St Peter, N'ham. Both of full age, Edward a bachelor; Amy a spinster. Edwards father was William, a boat builder and Amys was Thomas (dec), a dyer.

Can I find them on the 1871C? Can I heck. In fact, I cannot find a trace of Edward, on any census (I've yet to search for Amy - but I will)

Can SKS please take a look to see if any trace can be found? I've no other details to go on.
Thanks

What was Edward's occupation on the marriage certificate?
Can only see the Henry/Amy that Iria mentioned, and can't see a marriage for Henry

This chap died in 1874 and his name was recorded as Henry Edward Stenson

Amy Stenson then appears in 1881 ,1891 and 1901 as a widow with her children

This Amy was born 1844 Notts and the only Amy Wheatley I can see in Notts on the 1851 census is Amy Wheatley age 7 with Ann Wheatley age 30, unmarried.

We can always post the full details if you decide they are relevant

Hi lady,

Apologises for the delay in getting back to you. The lergie has confined me to my bed.

On the marriage cert, Edwards occupation is given as a 'moulder' - so could work. His age is given as 'full age', as is Amys' - so again could work.

The GRO reference definitely has him as 'Edward' but I can't see any trace of an Edward or Henry Edward in any birth/christining reference, let alone in 1843.

If these two names match the same individual, then the census would seem to confirm this and I'll look up the details now. The same would apply to Amy, in that she appears to be the sole Amy Wheatley in N'ham on any census.

I've got access to the censuses. So will have a look now.

In the meantime, I'll get back to you if I get stuck.
Gratitude in abundance

Ladies,

I think I've pieced together Henry Edward and Amys family after their marriage in 1866.

However, if one of you has a moment, and can spare the time, would it be possible to look for Henry Edward, b.1843 in Radford, with father William, on both the 1851 and 1861 Cs?

I've spent a couple of hours looking but I'm not finding anything. I'm assuming that the family remains in Nottingham throughout the lifetime of the censuses.
Thanks
