Title: LLanarmon Y L Evans family
Post by: vivienpinewood on Wednesday 02 January 08 20:28 GMT (UK)
I am interested in the family of Edward Evans b 1796 in LLanarmon. I know he married someone by the name of Anne b 1791 LLanarmon.  I would really like to know when they were married, and her maiden name to further my search. I have a record of 8 children born between 1815-1833, so their marriage would probably have been around 1814 ish? As they were both from the same parish, I am assuming they were married in the local church. Any information of them or the baptism of subsequent children would be great. Thank you. Vivien.

Llandegla is the only other one that runs to 1837 for PR transcripts - nothing there :(  MrsTibbetts was going to check - maybe she will see this and jump in.

Heather

modified - the closest other parishes to Eryrys would be Llanferres or Treuddyn??

No.  It was Christmas 10 days ago and New year is past  ::)

I think we're needing a marriage of an Edward Evans and an Ann(e) circa 1817 ish . The Hayes Marriage Index might have them  :-\

Thanks Paul  :)

Thank you all for such a fantastic response! The  Llanarmon yn Ial  family of Evans seem to have been living in Eryrys, and then using the church at  LLanarmon for baptisms. I believe the Eryrys church was not up and running until 1863,so that would make sense. The children I have listed exactly the same..but I was basing my estimated date of marriage of Edward and Anne on the birth of Margaret. It appears he was married twice, but in very quick succession, or maybe his wife was actually Mary Anne? Unless a death for Mary can be found it is hard to prove for certain.
I do think the 1791 Edward s/o John and Margaret of Eryrys seems particularly likely unless I am being swayed by the seasonal date of birth which was Dec 25th!
Thank you all for your help so far; any other thoughts most welcome!!
Vivien.

Many thanks for those details Heather, re John Evans and Margaret Hughes. My descent is from Robert Evans 1828 s/o Edward and Anne. I have him married to Jane.... with subsequently 7 children & all, apart from the first, b. in Llanarmon. I wonder if you would be able to check the marriage details of Robert and Jane for me? I  am waiting for a certificate which might prove to be the right one, a marriage between Robert Evans and Jane Jones 1854 Wrexham district, as it seemed to be the only possibility. Their first child as far as I know was born in 1857.
Happy New Year!
Vivien.

You are welcome Vivien :)

Am sorry but I cannot help you with anything later than 1837.  Are you in contact with RC member MrsTibbetts?   I believe she is connected to Margaret Evans, sister to your Robert.

Thanks again,

Hello Vivien, I have only just found this site looking for the other side of my family. However I am interested in your info because as far as I can see I am related to Edward and Ann, through their Daughter, also Anne. She was married to my Great Grandfather Thomas Smith.
I have no confirmation, but it also seems possible that Anne's sister Margaret was married to another relative Hugh Jones.

I had Anne married to Thomas Smith as a possibility, so good to confirm that. I would very much be interested to see how their tree unfolded and also happy to exchange any information I have. Margarets second marrage was to a John Smith 1809-1870, so it is surprising to hear that you might also have another link to the family, but with her first husband Hugh Jones. She also married his brother George Jones to make it a third time lucky! (*)
