Hello Brian

It is the marriage of John Stancombe and Ellen Hill registered Totnes Q4 1901.  The marriage may have been in Buckfastleigh or South Brent. Ellen's father was Samuel Hill.

Many thanks for any help you can give as I live abroad so it becomes more difficult.

Allan

Hello again Allan,

Totnes marriages: 4Q 5b 347. To establish the marriage location means either sending away for a  certificate copy or a trip to the Devon records office, the later I can probably do in the next couple of days. Buckfastleigh the home town of Jacob and Ann Slocombe and the birth town of John seems the most likely bet. Ellen Hill, born Totnes was only working at South Brent prior to their marriage in 1901.

Happy New Year,

Brian.

Hi

I have come to the same conclusion about John and his parents but I have discovered that you can never be sure !!

I think I will order a cert copy. Thank you very much for the offer but hopefully the cert will save you trouble.

Regards, Allan
