Hi
I am looking for
Alfred Greenhill - Head
Rachel Greenhill - Wife born approx 1815 in Tenterden
Mary Greenhill - Daughter born approx 1834
Elizabeth Greenhill - Daughter born approx 1836
Alfred Greenhill - Son born approx 1838
Joseph Exall Greenhill - Son born approx 1840
who were living in Rolvenden Village on the 1841 census, no address given.
I have no record of the family since 1841, could somebody look up the 51,61,71 censuses for me to see if they were still in that area?
Thanks in advance

Could this be another? It's very difficult to tell without birthplaces - do you not have their baptisms?
1871
1 Rockville Street, Tranmere, Cheshire
Alfred H GREENHILL head married 32 ship's steward RN b.Tenterden
Helen wife 21 b.Holyhead Anglesea
RG10 3751 folio 179 page 41

There is no obvious sign of the parents in 1871 at the moment. Nor the daughters but they may well have married by then.

Thanks for your help, i had seen the two entries on the 1871 census for Joseph and Alfred and yes they are the right ones. I was hoping to find the parents especially on 1851 and 1861 as i can find no trace of them anywhere else.
Thanks again

Hi Caroline,
This looks like some of them:
1861 Tenterden High Street private house:
Mary Exall, head, unm, 54, drawing and fancy works(?), born Middlesex Poplar
Rachael Greenhill, neice, unm, 27, milliner, born Kent Tenterden
Joseph E Greenhill, nephew, unm, 20, school assistant, born Kent Rolvenden

I'm still looking for the rest of the family ;)

Hi Caroline,
Here are all the Greenhill entries that I could find for you from the 1851 census:
ref HO107 1620 folio 49: Mill House, Rolvenden
John Greenhill serv un age 30 millers grinder born Rolvenden lodging with the miller Lawrence Foster and his family
ref HO107 1620 folio 206: 8, Wellington Place, Tenterden
Mary Exall head wid age 73 annuitant born Hampshire Portsmouth
Mary Exall dau un age 44 teacher of drawing and fancy work born Middlesex Limehouse
Rachel Greenhill grand dau un age 17 assistant born Tenterden
ref HO107 1620 folio 236: Westcross, Tenterden
Elizabeth Greenhill serv un age 14 servant born Rolvenden in the employ of William Howard, currier
ref HO107 1620 folio 312 : Tenterden Union Workhouse
Alfred Greenhill pauper age 13 scholar born Rolvenden
Joseph Geenhill pauper age 10 scholar born Rolvenden
John Greenhill pauper age 9 scholar born Rolvenden
Neither parents are shown in the workhouse, so they had probably died by 1851. There is no sign of Mary in either Tenterden or Rolvenden in 1851, so maybe she had already moved to Ashford by then.
Sorry this is not going to help you much.
xx Carol.
