From a Scottish birth certificate I know the parents wedding occurred on the above date.
I'm totally new to search in Ireland and wonder if their is any way I can find more info - ideally parents - over the internet?
The couple were John Stewart (Wine merchant) and Caroline Eleanor Newsome?
Thanks

Here's the marriage from Londonderry Sentinel, 5 Apr.1861:
March 26, in Maghera Church, county Down, by the Rev. William Duffin, Mr. John Stewart, wine and spirit merchant, Endiburgh, to Caroline Eleanor, eldest daughter of Mr. James Newsam, Maghera.
The actual marriage certificate will list fathers and their occupations but not the names of the mothers.
British Vital Records Index (v.2) lists the fathers as William Stewart & James Newsam
Five children listed on LDS site which you probably have already.

Hi
There are Newsams still in Maghera Parish (Ballyginny townland) on the 1901 Census. They run the Post Office. If you go to
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~meaneypj/Co_Down_Stuff/1901_Census/1901_Census_Maghera_Parish/ballyginny_1901_census.htm
No.15 is the family.
Hope this helps!
Sheila

Other records in Londonderry Sentinel- if they are of interest I will copy them.

Newsam is still a family in that area. If you look at:
http://www.thephonebook.bt.com/
and search for them in Newcastle, Co. Down - that's the area that now includes Maghera.

Thanks to you all for the replies - please don't think I don't appreciate your efforts with this part of my family - I have been away for a week on holiday so have only just been able to read your replies!
I'd love the other newspaper entries you mention aghadowey - if it's not too much trouble.
Thanks again

I don't have five kids - not yet looked at the LDS site! Do you mean 5 kids of John and Caroline?
-
Yes, go onto LDS site: and do parent search and 5 children will come up (IGI). Will look out Sentinel information now and post shortly.
