Title: Getting confused
Post by: malcermie on Monday 24 December 07 13:09 GMT (UK)
I'm getting confused! I have a JOHN FISHER (b1857 Newington) who married a MARY ? about 1877 he seems to have died in 1886. The only marriage I can find is PIERCE JOHN FISHER are they the same person and could Mary's second name be HANNAH or ANN and could her maiden name be BAILEY? Lots of questions and no ideas!! :-\ :-\ :-\

Is this the John and Mary in Folkestone in 1881 ?

RG11/1008; Folio: 104; Page: 59

John was a General Labourer - 2 sons, Stephen and Frederick born in Folkestone ?

Looking in FreeBMD - Not sure about Stephen's BMD Index entry, but Elham should be the district, and theres a Frederick entry there Sep Q 1879 Vol 2a Page 972 ..... purchasing the Cert would show Mary's maiden name ....

I think the Pierce John F and Mary Bailey is the right marriage.

In 1871, John can be seen with Father Frederic in Newington, Folkestone, and Fred married in 1856 ...

So this chap is prolly him - belt and braces tho - get one or both Certs to verify ...
