Hi i dont know if anyone can help me but i thought i would give it a go :)
i have lost a couple of brothers and 1 supposedly went to NZ
i am looking for any information on either Hugh Macleod b1877, John Macleod b1882, Murdo Macleod b 1879 or Kenneth Macleod b1885 all born in Altas, Creich, Sutherland Fathers name was Donald Macleod married to Betsey Macleod it is possible they went to the Dunedin area to be with one of the sisters Catherine (Katie) Macleod b1891 in Altas who i think married ???? Dobie and had a child Kenneth Dobie
If any of that makes sense :o :o
Hopefully

Hi Kate
Wow that is great and it all seems to fit at the moment as for middle names i dont know all i have is their DOB and Parents names and birthplace and sometimes they spelt Macleod/Mcleod i think it varied from family to family
But with the middle names you have they all fit with the rest of the family
without being cheeky would there be any chance of finding dates of birth or anything else to nail the connection.
Thanks again

Kate
to narrow it down a bit all dates should be after 1890 and i am sure Catherine had at least 1 child
Thanks

So you got the wedding certificate of Cath and John ?
to confirm the parents.
Get Catherines death certificate and it will tell you how many kids, ages, parents, length of time in country ...
Which brother did you lose ? (instead of us looking for all) and when did you lose him ?
-
Hi
No i dont have the wedding cert but i am 100% sure this is the Catherine i am looking for i am still 2 brothers unaccounted for Kenneth and John Macleod i can find Kenneth on the 1901 census age 16 in Rosehall, Creich, Sutherland, Scotland and i can find John on the 1891 census i think John (b1882) joined the Army early ie Pre war and it is a possibly that he jumped ship in NZ (But not sure) as some family reports say he was killed at the battle of the Somme in 1916 but i can find no evidence of this as i cant find an Army No. for him.

Hi Kate
Yes i tried that but i could not definately connect the name and i dont know too much about him all i do know is that he was a piper and was born in 1882 in Auchintoul, Altas, Creich, Sutherland, Scotland to Donald and Betsey Macleod i have been told he was killed in hte battle of the Somme in 1916 age 34 but i can not find anything to support this anywhere.
