Hi there,
I am looking for any births for Walter McLoughlin who married Mary Anne Wall in 1876 in Butlerstown, Waterford.
If a birth is found, and the parents are shown, could the names also be given.
I know that Walter and Mary Anne had 3 children, namely Margaret, Alice and Richard.
I also understand that Walter's father was a soldier as he was listed as such on the marriage certificate.

Not sure from your posting whether you are looking for birth for Walter or children. IGI shows one child for Walter McLaughlin and Mary Anne Wall which seems to be one you don't have: Sarah McLaughlin born 11 Oct.1876 Waterford, Waterford, Ireland.
Since Walter was born long before start of civil registration of births in Ireland (1864) you would have to look for church records (if they still exist). To do so you need to know relglion and where the family lived and then check churches in that area.

I know he was Catholic. Do you know what catholic sites I could check on?

Not sure what sources are available for Waterford but try checking sources posted at top of Waterford board here.
Putting 'Waterford records' into Google brings up sites like these:

Also try googling something like 'waterford church records'

Have you written to Waterford City Library ? the local history room has an index to local newspapers that cover the years you are looking for, and their might be birth, marriage or death notices for the people you are researching.

Yes they have, but i cant remember it, if you google waterford city library, waterford city ireland you will get in on there page.

My sister married a McLoughlin from Waterford but Ferrybank area rather than Butlerstown and I think the family originated in Northern Ireland so not sure if that helps.
