I have the marriage of William Deadman to Florence Emily Finnis Q1 1921 Eastry Registration District.
What I'm trying to find out is whether she was Florence Emily who was born in Sandwich in 1894. Her mother was Charlotte Jane Finnis b 1869 in Sandwich, father unknown.
I think William was born in Northfleet. Is there anyone who has an interest in the Deadman family who might be able to help?
I know that I can send for the marriage certificate but probably not a good idea, post wise just before Christmas.
I'd be grateful for any help. Finnisfinder.

Sorry about this:
there is a Florence b 1895 Sandwich and a Florence E - same details - both visitors - one with Jane and one with Charlotte J
I was going to post and then realised that you probably know this because of your enquiry.
Apologies

Yes I have found Charlotte Jane and Florence Emily recorded twice on 1901 census.
Ramsgate entry Jane is with her sister Louisa, then at Eastry with another sister, Fanny and her husband James Gifford.
How would this have come about? Finnisfinder

perhaps at the time of completing the census she should have been with one but went to the other :-\
I am glad that the 'mystery' is solved - it seemed such a coincidence.
However you were wondering whether this is the one you want.. is that it?
Looks like you need the certificate - post Christmas to verify Florence and William - although 1893, Northfleet is a good bet.
best wishes

If it helps, I think the 1921 marriage took place at Eastry Parish Church - at least I think that's the ref. for T8 on the Kent Registration Services site http://extranet3.kent.gov.uk/sp/rois/home.html

I didn't know that you could identify the place of marriage by eg T8.
If this is the marriage I'm looking for, it could fit because Florence Emily's mother Charlotte had married Francis Harrison on 3rd September 1914 in Sandwich.
Francis's first wife Emily had died January 1914.Francis and Emily were living at Prospect Cottage, Mill Lane, Eastry. On the death certificate Francis's occupation is given as Engineer, Workshop. I wonder if this could have been Eastry Union Workhouse?

Hello finnisfinder
Your recent post about Charlotte Jane reminded me of this one. I was wondering whether you had obtained the marriage cert for William and Florence?

Hello Polarbear, yes, did get the marriage certificate. They were married at Eastry Parish Church January 1921.Witnesses were Charlotte Jane Harrison and Stanley Albert Harrison.
It all then got interesting! Put Stan's name into search on GenesReunited, it came up with a contact who is the cousin of Stan's daughter-in -law, who lives in Queensland.
Stan died in 1998. He had emigrated to Australia early 1920s but came back to the UK when he had TB. He then returned to Australia in 1931.
Apparently no letters from home from his father Francis mentioned Charlotte after that time. I,ve tried Freebmd etc as suggested on the look up requests but nothing. there was one quarter missing in 1923!
Found out that Francis and his first wife are buried in Eythorne. Francis attended the Baptist Church there.
Still no further forward finding any descendants of William Deadman and Florence. Did find a record of Florence's death in the London Times, 1983, living at Gravesend at the time. Of course don't know for sure it was her.
I think they had two children.
One of these days something will turn up.
Regards Finnisfinder.

The death registration of Florence Emily DEADMAN (March quarter 1983 Gravesend registration district ref. 16 1032) gives her date of birth as 8 Oct 1894 - it certainly looks like her doesn't it and the area would fit with the birth of a son in 1922 Gravesend registration district http://freebmd.rootsweb.com
I've found an address of 219 Upper Wrotham Road, Gravesend (F E DEADMAN) 1966-1982. W B DEADMAN is shown as that address 1961-1964 so it may give some indication of his death ie. 1963-1966ish.
There is a probate notice for her in the London Gazette where date of death is given as 21 Jan 1983 (unfortuntately no family mentioned) http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/AdvancedSearch.aspx?geotype=London

Hi all
Response to a very old post. I am a Deadman sharing ancestry with William B (Northfleet, 1893) through Thomas Dedman (Deadman), born Telscomb, sussex, 1793, d. Fawkham, Kent, 1861. I have William married to Florence Emily with Florence dying in St Helens in 1983.
Hope this is some help
