Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone knows whether the employment records for London Transport sill exist. The family story goes that my grandfather was a bus driver in South London after WW2. I know that London Transport has been broken up these days but I am hoping that the old records survive so I can confirm the family story.
Thanks for any advice.

Happy Christmas Simon and Kitty,
Have you looked at the Transport for London website ... Historical Archive section www.tfl.gov.uk/foi/889.aspx ?
You can send a request to access company archives by letter, fax or e-mail. The Transport for London team will advise you whether records containing the information are held. Access to information contained in some records may be subject to 'exemption' from disclosure on a case-by-case basis. This may restrict, for example, the disclosure of staff records and some records containing personal data where the individuals concerned are still alive.
The Railway Ancestors Journal No. 19 Summer 2000 contains an article about London Transport Staff Records www.railwayancestors.org.uk/prices.html
