Title: "HO107/1775/228 1851 lookup Chelmsford,Essex Palmer"
Post by: cinnamon on Sunday 02 January 05 04:44 GMT (UK)
Could SKS please do a lookup for me. I am looking for Samuel Palmer and his wife Mary ,  in 1851. They had a son named William.

I think they were probably in Margaretting. I am looking for the details in the census. Thank you ever so kindly.

Sincerely,
Cinnamon

The children are all said to have been born at Margaretting in the census of 1851
I will have a look to see if they are there in 1841?

Hi Bryant & Annemarie ,

First I would like to thank you for all your wonderful help in my quest for the Palmers. This has all been so very helpful and greatly appreciated.

Is there any chance we can see the 1821 census for Margaretting , Ingatestone , or Writtle. The reason I am asking is because I am looking for Samuels family. His dad was John Palmer and Mother was Rebecca. I am thinking they were still in Writtle at the time of the 1821 census. I am trying to find out who their other children might be. Then maybe I can research the family a little closer. Samuel was born in 1817 so I know he was still at home at that time with his other siblings. I have tried to find this census online but to no avail. Maybe I am just not looking in the right place.
Thank you again for your time and patience in this quest.
Have a great day and God Bless.
Candi    :)

There is no 1821 census they start from 1841 but that only lists name occupation and whether they were born in the parish which was answered with a yes or a no.

Hi Annemarie,

Thank you so much for your reply, I really do appreciate this. I guess I was wishful thinking on this one. I am trying to find out who Samuels siblings were and thought the census might be my answer. I guess it's back to the drawing board on this one.

Best Regards,
Candi

You are now into Parish records for Writtle on the name of PALMER and see what turns up?

Happy hunting

Bryant is correct you will now have to search the parish registers for anymore information in fact you will probably find more than you expected!

Good luck and if you want to search the Essex surnames list I run you may even find others researching the same name.

   Hi Annemarie   ;D  ,

Thank you ever so much for all your very kind help. You and Bryant have been so wonderful. I will be sure to check the list to see if anyone else is searching this same line, that would be great.

Could you tell me where I could find the parish records ? Are they online ? I know this must sound like a silly question but I have never checked the parish records from over here and I can't , I am sorry to say get over there.
Thank you again for all your help.

you could try your local family history centre or look in your phone book for The Church of the Latter Day Saints they will tell you were a family history centre (run by them) is nearest to you where you can order the film or fiche.
