Title: John Johnson
Post by: Grainger on Monday 10 December 07 16:30 GMT (UK)
I am looking for information about my Great Grandfather John Johnson, he was married to Mary Jane Prudhoe and they had 3 daughters, Catherine Ivy, Mary
Elizabeth (my grandmother) and Evelyn.  Can anyone tell me anything about him or his ancestors?

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

With a little more information I am sure we will be able to help you.  Do you have any dates for John Johnson's marriage and birth??  Do you have him and his family on any census??  I am sorry to be just asking questions at this time, but I am sure someone will be able to help.   ;)

Dear Jane

Thanks forn the information.  I knew about the family above, my great grandfather was known as the gentle giant he was 6'6" and my great grandmother was 4'9" and she ruled the house with a rod of iron.  I have a suspicion but not substantiated that Robert Johnson was of Scottish origin.  I have been onto family search.org but cant find any information about them, can you either tell me where to look or could you point me in the right direction.  On my grandmothers married side the Graingers with help I am now back to 1615 and it would be lovely to be able to trace my grandmothers fathers side back as far as possible.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Regards
Mags

Hi Mags

If the 91 census is correct that I posted, it states that Robert, John's father is actually from Shotton, Co Durham?

Do you have the marriage certficate for John and Mary Jane, does it say Robert is the father?? I will have a look in earlier census to see if I can see them again

Will be back soon

Jane :D
