Has anyone come across this unusual surname. Mary Means was born in Fishguard or Dinas c1780 and lived to be 105. I have not located any relations in Pembrokeshire. She was at St.Ishmael, Carms when she married in 1813.

I have just read your posting... have not been on this site for a VERY long time. Have you found out anymore about Mary Means?
I live in Fishguard - and I am a Dinas girl by birth....
Let me know if you have any further info on her or her parents and i will see what I can find in the local graveyards.

Hi
No I've been at a dead end with Mary Means for the past 30 years. I had a family story (before we knew anyone lived in that area) that an ancestor was one of the women who thwarted the French invasion of 1797. Mary would have been about 17 then so it is plausible. There is no-one else in the family from Fishguard/Dinas.
