Title: John Williams and Lizzie Patfield (Dudley and Chase Terrace Staffs)

I have Lizzie Patfield b. c. 1877 at Dudley married Apr/May/June Qtr 1900 in Dudley to a John Williams.

But who was John Williams and where did he come from?  I have the info I need on Lizzie

They had children Lily b. 1909, Annie b.1910, Florence 1910 and Arthur P b. 1911 all at Dudley.  In 1914 they had Sydney Williams b. 29 March 1914 at Chase Terrace, Staffs (Reg Dist Lichfield).  The father of the children - John Williams was know as "Toffee" and was a green grocer at Chase Terrace.

Any help tracing John Williams b.c. 1877 would be much appreciated

Hi,
it looks as though you will need to get the marriage certificate for John's father.

I think this is him in 1901 RG13; Piece: 2746; Folio: 99; Page: 39

1 Owen Street Dudley
John Williams 22 yrs coal miner loader (and hewer) b Diudley
Lizzie (transcribed as Sissie) 24 yrs b Dudley

1891 has a choice- born and living Dudley:
John Williams b abt 1880 -parents John and Sarah
John Williams b abt 1881 son of Edward
John T Williams b abt 1877 son of William and Ellen

1881
John  b 1880 parents John & Sarah
John b 1877 parents William and Ellen
and a John b 1879 parents Henry and Maria

the children's names give no clues to family names so .. looks like certificate

Hi Jim again,

I thought I would see where the other Johns were in 1901 to see if that helps:
there is one (1877) married to Jane and living in Tunstall Staffs. His eldest son is William- could be the one whose father is William.
One is a boarder (born 1878) in Harrogate

so still nothing conclusive
