Hi David
Approx how old are your two quarries - there are a couple of Joel Redferns in the area & probably more than a few Ibbotsons.

Hi
There is a JOSEPH IBBOTSON in Oughtibridge aged 43 with a family, but he's not a farmer, he is also a tile cutter, could this be your man?

Hi Sandrac
If the Joseph Ibbotson of Gate is the one I'm looking for he should be abt 43
I have no idea on Joel Redfern age , but I believe he married a sister of Joseph so I assume he would be abt the same age as Joseph -+
They are both shown on the 1871 White's directory of Sheffield as farmers.

Hi Ann
He is the right age. Could it have been file cutter and not tile cutter?

Hi David
It could be, but can't really be certain. Mind tou above this entry there is a 'T/File' Forger, you wouldn't forge a tile would you, but you would a File.
So maybe you are right.
I'll see if I can post part of the page so you can have a lok too! Okay

Hi
Theres no way I can get it to accept a picture, but I have been back and enlarged the image and it is possibly FILE CUTTER.

Hi Anne
