Don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful for what we got already, but just wondering if anyone knows what's happening with the rest of the census resources.
I'd kinda hoped that we would see this progressing as they add in the rest of the country and then 1901 but nothing new seems to have been added since the launch before Christmas.
I got some exciting information (about the missing great-grandmother, among other's) but now need to know where the family was in 1901 to work out more precise dates for other searches.
Does anyone know if there is a technical hitch to adding more, or a planned schedule (with timetable) for further releases - I've seen the list, but as yet no evidence that it is happening, so was hoping for some dates, maybe...

Hi all,
I'm new to the site but family history research in Ireland.
Catriona Crowe, the senior archivist for Ireland, was on the radio the other day and she mentioned a new batch would be released quite soon (Kerry & Antrim, I think).
I've no idea why the work is so slow but I wish they would hurry up - I need Wicklow and it's last on the list!!
Regards,
Purpeller

Counties Antrim, Down & Kerry are due to be released sometime in October 2008. National Archives, Dublin site has list of the order they are putting the counties online so just keep checking if there's any particular yu are waiting for to be added.

I agree , a great resource - though a word of caution when using: If you fail ( or succeed for that matter) try various spellings of the name - i searched in vain for months for my G. Grandfather whom i was convinced was in Dublin at this time but to no avail - Then a cousin of mine in Dublin searched and placed a space between the Mc and Namara and they there were - dozens of them!! so even those who would have McNamara's may have missed out on vital info due to the method of recording several of the families details

Hi
I know what you mean!¬
My Dublin Hoey's were indexed as Holy in one of the England censuses after they came over here!
Nearly October. I wonder how prompt the next batch will be. Can't wait!
Best wishes

For anyone with a 'Mac' or 'O' name just type in the second part without the Mac or O. I tried it with Connor and came up with O Connor, O' Connor, O ' Connor, Connors, Mc Connor etc etc.

Update- seems to be a delay and Antrim, Down & Kerry are now supposed to be coming in Nov. 2008.

The records for 1911 are being digitised first, then those for 1901. The 1911 Census records for Antrim, Down and Kerry will now be placed online in December, rather than October, as previously hoped. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused, and thank you for your patience. Publication of the other counties will follow, in the order listed below, between then and mid-2009. More precise timescales will be posted when available.
* Donegal
* Cork
* Wexford
* Galway
* King’s County (Offaly)
* Limerick
* Mayo
* Waterford
* Armagh
* Carlow
* Cavan
* Clare
* Fermanagh
* Kildare
* Kilkenny
* Leitrim
* Londonderry (Derry)
* Longford
* Louth
* Meath
* Monaghan
* Queen’s County (Laois)
* Roscommon
* Sligo
* Tipperary
* Tyrone
* Westmeath
* Wicklow

The message under Future Plans changes every day or so so it's just a matter of waiting to see what happens and when.
-
And How! ;D
-
Whats Happening????????????
While checking the surname Greenlees on 1911 census to my surprise it showed the ANTRIM census return
-
Ooooh!
There's a drop down box with the 4 counties available now!
-
What website address are you looking at.......I don't see a drop down menu :-\

The site keeps changing.
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
Now has only Dublin but earlier this afternoon you could select which county. I did a search on a particular surname and as I clicked through each page, the number of returns changed.
I'd say they're uploading the new information bit by bit and will have a proper functioning site with 4 counties within a couple of days.

Thanks.

Each stage of the project has fallen way behind their posted deadlines so think it's just a matter of wait and see but hopefully the next installment will include several counties like last time.

H Purleller,
I know your last posting was September 2008 but you may be still around. I have copied the census of 1901 and 1911 for Wicklow TOWN ONLY and would be willing to look up this area for you

The post on this thread was a while ago but Purpeller was actually online yesterday. Might be best to send a PM with the message just in case they don't read this thread.

JMF,
I only saw this by chance - for some reason I didn't get a notification. I'm actually on rootschat most days.
