Title: Two Cornelius's
Post by: keen17 on Sunday 02 December 07 18:38 GMT (UK)
I have hit a problem after finding two Cornelius Keen's in Chedworth, Glos born in 1830. One has a father WIlliam Keen, the other's father is Joseph Keen. Can anyone help me to find out which one is my ancestor? Thanks ::)

Hi keen17,

If Cornelius married then his father's name should be on the marriage certificate.

Could this be him:

Marriages:  Cornelius Keen  Dec 1853   Cheltenham  6a  799 (found on FreeBMD)

Parents - William & Mary
Occupation - Labourer

If you go to http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm#PageTitle and search the Chedworth batch for Keen you will be given data extracted from church records.  There seems to have been three Corneliuses in Chedworth - two baptized and the parent of one of them.

But the source of the data about W.K. being a labourer was  not given to you so you might find it difficult to share it with researchers.

Oh the problems!!

Regards

Chas
