Title: Diaper - London or Suffolk?
Post by: Vella on Saturday 01 December 07 19:16 GMT (UK)
I am trying to trace the exact birthplace of my 2xgrt grandfather James H Diaper, born 1831 in London according to the 1861 census.  I know many Diapers came from the Southampton area and there are also many in Suffolk. James married two women from Suffolk so I feel there must be a link with that county.

checked the 1841 census and this is the closest to that date that I can find but not in London.

Hello Donna,
That was very kind of you to look all that up for me. I do realise there are large groups of Diapers in the Hampshire area as well as Suffolk. Because I cannot locate definately my James Diaper b. 1831 in either the 1851 census (although I have found one family living near Ipswich in 1841 (with the father's name James which is correct) I cannot confirm his place of birth.
Will keep in touch, post Christmas things to be done! :)
