Articles about a member of the Culine circus family who became a mayor, and the death of an 88yr old showwoman -

John Culine has traced his family back 500 yrs according to one article, and as the Jeffries family seems to have married into it/travelled with him, he may be able to help with your queries

Regards
Catherine

Hi, I've been tracing my family history, I knew I was descended from Gypsysbut didn't know which line. I've managed to go back to around 1700,  and all my Jeffries side are from Norfolk. I've found one that ended up in Kent, but my ft ft grandparents ended up in Bury, Lancashire. I've read that Nichols is a traveller name too and I've got a Nichols marrying in way back. So, I'm certain I'm on the right track with the gypsy side. I'd be willing to share info if you're interested?  X

Jubilee Elizabeth Greta Jeffries was my grandma born in 1887 she married Bernard William Jeffries.

This was before your date range but the names are the same and they were fair ground ride proprietors.

Hi Sue Story, having read that your grandmother was Elizabeth Greta Jubilee Jeffries, I thought I'd ask if you know the date of birth for William Jeffries, who married Elizabeth Briggs. I know they married on 4/12/1821, in Paddington, London, but that is all I have. I would also like to know the date of birth for Elizabeth Briggs. My connection to the Jeffries family is through the Sykes family, my grandmother was Clara Sykes. She married John William Castle. Her father was Thomas Clifford Sykes, her mother was Elizabeth Duck. Kind regards Yorkie2
