Thank you for what you have posted so far. In Wales do they not register birth, death and census as to who the parents were and they address and all in the household. I had a hard time understanding Ancestry.com. I am from Canada so it could be I just don't know how to read it.
I will try and find more helpful information but I'm sure the mother was Sarah maybe from a different county??
Thanks again

Checked Wales, and all other English counties could not find a match for Sarah as wife, looked for mistranscriptions. This family was the nearest match. You could obtain the above birth cert for Nimroy and see if address, fathers occ. mothers name fits ? how did you get info mother is Sarah?

This is my brother-in-laws family and the information he gave me was his father was Nimroy or Nimrod born he thought June 3 1906 but said it could be anywhere between 1902 to 1909. From Cardiff Wales - Glamorgan or Whitchurch.?
His grandfather (father of Nimroy) was Benjamin and his grandmother was Sarah both of them died in 1940's. Nimroy was the youngest boy of 9 children there was a sister younger. Some of the siblings names were Frank, James, Steve, Florence and Jeannie.
Nimroy came to Canada in 1921 and married over here.
I was familiar with Wales section of Ancestry I looked and all I could find was a Benjamin George b 1877 in Pontypridd and a Sarah Willis from there. I thought it could be the right people. Is there anywhere more detail to search for Wales information?
Thanks
-
As he was born reg 1904, and was almost the youngest child, I would expect to find the couple together in 1901. Ancestry for census is the one of the best resource available. You need to confirm with the birth cert parent names and area. Nimroy is not a usual name so I would think it is the correct one.
Tried looking for the children individually to try find family together, also could not find a marriage, the above marriage is the only hit that came up for Benjamin Giles - Willis in UK. Perhaps others will have more luck.

Thank you so much for your help on this I will try and find out more information regarding the marriage and county.

The Whitchurch area of Cardiff is within approx 7 miles from Llantrisant /Brynsadler - which falls under the Pontypridd reg district.
Right area for birth reg of Nimroy Giles Sept Q 1904. This is an unusual name as mentioned, cannot find another on freebmd to match info given. (it is possible his birth month is correct and was not reg until July, which would fall under Sept Q)
It is also possible they moved after 1901 to the Whitchurch area? Pet names are often given to family members, or middle names are used. Family info gets mixed up down the generations etc. I would get the birth cert and go from there it may just all fall into place...
Good luck

Thank you so much again for the advice, you are probably right that the middle names could have been used. I will certainly continue. I think you have nailed down Nimroy so I may have to go sideways to be able to go forward.
Thanks

I have a little more information regarding the Giles family now a note was found in the effect of late Nimroy Giles late wife. - It says Benjamin Giles was born about 1865 and he married Ellen Willis b about 1868 and they married 1886 - Her parents were Richard Willis and Sarah March married about 1856 Richards father was Ephram Willis and Sarah's father was James Willis.
Benjamin and Ellen's children are noted as Florence, Frank, Jack, Jennie, Ethel, James, Nimroy and Nellie.
Anything I can find on this family will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Cas has given you the reference for ordering Benjamin & Ellen's marriage certificate in her first reply.
1881 census is free to access Ellen Wiilis is with her family in Cardiff.
The 1911 census is now online and is pay to view, so you can look at the transcript or original page yourself. (Nimroy has been transcribed as Nimred)

Hope something here helps.
edited to add age ::)

Thank you so much the family in your first reply is who I'm looking for. This gives me a real good start. Where do I look to see the 1881 census, then I'll try the 1911.
Thanks again.
-
the 1881 transcriptions can be accessed here
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp
and the original pages can be seen on sites like Ancestry
Just noticed I left out Benjamin's age in a reply - I'll edit.
-
Thanks for the website the only Benjamin Giles I could come up with in 1881 in Wales was the son of George. I don't think this is the Benjamin I'm looking for. I'll try Ancenstry.
-
as I posted earlier, Benjamin's family has been transcribed as Gibbs and Ancestry & Findmypast and probably others use the same transcription.
-
Thanks for your interest. I'll try Gibbs.

Hi there,
My paternal grandmother, Sarah Jane Giles, was a sister to Nimroy Giles. I think his name may have been corrupted in translation over the years as my Dad, Albert Nimrod Bawden the youngest child of the family, was named after his Uncle Nim who had emigrated to Canada. I attach a photo of Sarah Jane Giles below.
-
Thank you so much for your reply and photo, the say I look like our grandfather. Do you have a picture of him?
-
Sadly I don’t think we have any photos of Uncle Nim - I will check for you. I can see a family resemblance to my Dad, Albert Nimrod Bawden, your cousin! Would love to have Nimroy/Nimrod’s family history for my family tree. It’s really good to be in touch.
-
Have located a photo of Uncle Nim, sadly it’s too large to send on here! Is there any other way to contact you?
-
I will PM you an email address for the picture, also do you have one of your grandmother and Nimroys father?
Thanks
Jim
